Carbon filter size question

Hey folks, i'd need some advice in carbon filter sizing.

I have a Vents TT 100 inline fan, which has a nominal 187 m3/h in its pocket. Last year i paired it with an older carbon filter (could've been depleted), a Can-Lite 150PL filter to be exact (which has a nominal 150 m3/h output)... and while i was drying, it smelled a little.

My question would be.. what if i'd pair this inline fan with a 300m3/h carbon filter (Can-Lite 300PL)? Would it be worth it? Would it eat up too much of the fan's strength to be effective in drying?

(If it counts anything the drying box is around 1 m3)
