So if this measure fails ... they just expect all these growers to stop?

No, the county is currently designing a permanent ordinance. If it's not done by next year they are supposed to renew the urgency ordinance for 1 more year.

The measure is a citizens backed measure not connected with the county. If it fails the urgency measure is still in effect until This February when they'll have to vote it for another year.

Now depending on how the elections go if the board of supervisors changes to be more anti cannabis, possible, it could change how it all plays out. Very unstable times.

Ya a few weeks ago I heard they were at 50 people. In the one article the sheriff says only 2 out of 50 passes the inspection whatever that means.

Ya it's lookin like the ban vote will make the ballot. Some question the legality of its severability clause allowing a piece of the law to be removed while not destroying the whole law after it's been approved for the ballot. Two points conflict with new recreational law.

1) says ur only allowed 3 plants when rec law says you can have 6.

2) state law says counties cannot ban indoor growing of those 6 plants, ban law does not allow to grow indoor it requires cannabis to be grown in a detached building.

Going to be a wild spring. The vote will happen in May.

The ban petition received enough signatures to qualify for a special ballot. County supervisors can either approve the ban at their next meeting or schedule a special vote in may. It will be interesting to see the outcome. Lots of people are liking the new money influx in Calaveras county. Lots of people are not liking the rude people influx. There are plenty of responsible growers out there but much of big weed = big greed

If there are any permitted calaveras farmers following make sure you become a member of CCA, Calaveras cannabis alliance. If you can't afford the full fee just send them an email and they can work something out.

The next 12 months will decide the fate of the next few seasons so we need all permitted legal farmers who want to stay that way to join up. The 3 banners on the board have taken a very aggressive approach to our industry over the past few months...getting worse as time goes on...but a fully comprehensive strategy has been developed to bring the fight to them with multiple planned lawsuits, a diverse community written regulation bill on ballot June 2018 that meets in the middle between the desires of farmers and the desire of nonfarmers, and then to take the legs out from underneath the banners by building a diverse block of community support across all districts and across all "divided lines", example democrats verse republicans doesn't divide our group in any way, we all get alone ...Let's get ready for the fight!
