He gave up for about 5 minutes until Walt dropped a bomb while drunk which convinced him to get back on the case.

In other news, AMC just renewed Breaking Bad for 16 episodes. So after this season there will be 16 final episodes then it will be done.

my first thought was they do it so he feels good about himself and stops being a total trainwreck. but it seems a bit far fetched!

i LOLed when walt and skyler went at it. i knew it was gonna happen as soon as they finished the deal and got all psyched up about it haha.

That's been the plan the whole time- it was just the deal with AMC that was in doubt. But I read that the last season might stretch to 2 8 episode seasons, which would kind of suck...
