Best Image Resizer Programs You've Found

was wondering what program you photography enthusiast find to give you the best replica of your original camera shots ?

so many programs end up softening the sharpness of the original pics , so finding a good program is crucial for close-ups of our favorite green ladies .

would like to find out the best programs & also the best free programs for those that are on a budget.

The best program for the task is Adobe PhotoShop, just ask any professional in the field. PhotoShop Elements which is the home version costs about $100.

I use GIMP. It's free and while a lot of people might not like the user interface I find that for simple photo tasks like this it's actually better than PhotoShop. For example to crop a picture just cut the part you want out and then click Edit -> Paste as new image. For resizing (GIMP calls it scaling) it lets you choose from four different algorithms. At least one of them should provide a good result for any picture, you just need to figure/try out which (I usually use cubic interpolation). It's rather large though (especially if you only want to resize pics) so it's a long download and takes a while to start the program etc..

i've also used batch image resizers for large amounts, very useful.

I upload at full size, not sure what icmag uses, but unless I'm uploading 3d pics, (in which case I use photoshop elements to resize first) I find it hard to improve on what the server does automatically.
