I'n not sure how many of you pay attention to solar weather or not.

Those that are on the look out for Auroras (i.e Northern Lights) usually are but in case you are interested and don't know where to look:

As you can see we had a pretty good sized solar flare today, M2 class. The magnetic canopy of sun spot #1166 erupted (seen here in this time lapse last week is sunspot #1164: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFdRFp5yetQ) and they were able to capture the bright Coronal Mass Ejection (CME). Here is a gif of today's event:

This solar flare should partially hit our planet in the next couple of days. Those living up in northern regions should have a good chance at seeing some really nice auroras.
Those with cell phones and satellite tv have a good chance of having some service interference on the 9th and 10th.

If you are interested and have an iPhone or iPad there is a cool Free app available called "3D Sun" (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/3d-sun/id347089078) that spaceweather.com does. It give updates on the solar weather and it will supposedly even alert you when events take place.
