Amsterdam in April 2008

Hello Everybody,

I'll be in AMS 10 April-9 May and am more excited about the trip every day. First smoked reefer in 1973 and am thrilled to hear there will be an ICMAG event in Amsterdam during my stay. All those years of practice getting high, it would be nice to apply them for good purpose. Have been able to visit Amsterdam at least a couple times a year for the past few years. Each trip brings new friends and experiences. I love the green of the Nederland, the electric trains, wind farms, and the open minds of the people. It is always a fun trip to roll a few, take the bicycle on the train and visit a new town or an old favourite. Amsterdam has changed my life for the better. Cheers! :joint:

grow experiences

grow experiences

The last plants I tried to grow were in Amsterdam, in a zolder in a row house not far from de Jordaan, from miracle seeds found in weed from a coffeeshop. They sprouted, and stretched towards the skylight, but I was not visiting long enough (3 months in winter) and lacked proper equipment for anything more to happen. Gave my plastic container of soil and seedlings to a friend who had a tiny garden in a suburb, but sadly, they died in transit.

I have also tried windowsill gardening, but do not think the light was sufficient. Years ago, had some plants outdoors, but when a friend advised me that the meter readers of the local electrical utility were being paid bounties to report marijuana plants, that stopped abruptly.

Meanwhile I'm here to continue learning, because to know the plant is to know how best to use and enjoy it. Am very fortunate to be able to visit Amsterdam and sample fijn sativas and hazes and acquaint myself with lovely hasj as well. As soon as I understand the growing process well enough to balance necessary fertilizers and additives, and can plan a crop between trips, I am thinking of getting a Phototron system, because they have more available features than Aerogarden.

ICMAG has an impressive forum, there is a bit to learn in order to optimally navigate and use the many tools of the site. Hope to meet a few of you sometime and many thanks for the thoughtful posts and beautiful pics from all the master gardeners.

Respect.

Hello, Capt. Crip, have been working my way through the 420 and the sativa threads. Plenty to occupy the mind here at ICMAG. Am looking forward to the first joint in AMS; have not had any in a while. Amsterdam is Disneyland for stoners.

I definitely want to be there for the Growers' Cup; am not quite sure of the procedure to register, but will go over to Pollinator after I arrive. While I don't have so much talent or opportunity for cultivation myself, I am a staunch supporter of growers and do what I can to support the coffeeshop industry.

Capt. Crip is right, logic, the ban is on tobacco in public places. It is to be expected that some places will change, like the Nes is just a pub now, because their landlord made that decision for them. There are too many smokers and tokers out there who want to be out socialising, for the government to be able to shut all activity down. I think the worst might be that coffeeshops partition off private 'members only' areas where everyone agrees anything goes. Some small shops might become take away only. Big shops make a lot of money from canna toerists, and shop owners like Derry are committed to the hemp culture, so compromises will be made.

Let's see what happens. There aren't enough Politie to stop everybody smoking in the streets, in the parks, and probably open cafes in good weather. Oh, and out in a rental boat or on one of the Sint Nicolaas Boat Club boats you can smoke anything. Let us be creative. It is not to be believed that thousands of Dutch growers and tens of thousands of wiet rokers will be put aside by legislation. It might become necessary to check with a hotel what their policy is when planning future trips. Public buildings have insurance liability concerns.

The Crayon will be back in town after the 17th, if anyone else is and wants to remember 420 Cup 2008. It's been only a few weeks since then, but the experience is still vivid. It would be nice to see some of the Cup strains in shops, but the more we learn, the more we realise that maybe it is not where you go, but who you know.

I am lacking sufficient posts on ICMAG for PM, but you could reply to this thread or hang around Siberie or something. I hope to find more CocoHempy's at Pollinator, another habit we picked up last trip.

Thanks to all of you who take the time to properly cure your weed. ICMAG and 420 have made me further appreciate the importance of the many steps along the path to great herb: lineage, seeds, cultivation, nutrition, timing, curing and sharing.
