The next chapter

I need a place to keep track of this new grow since it is already evolving to the point where I am confusing myself trying to keep up with the current plan, so here it goes: The plan as it stands today.

The Strains from seed..trying out MSNL and their strains.

1. Original Glue
2. Girl Scout Cookies
3. Northern Lights
4. Gelato
5. Cheese (gifted from someone, I think paradise seeds...the have not arrived yet.)

All the seeds are feminized and I have 7 seedlings currently, which I refer to as young mothers.

I currently have them in small cups with a bit of soil in them, but I will be transplanting the mothers into extended reservoir hempy buckets in a few days. I will put in pictures once I lay out the plan.

The plan is to keep the mothers under either my 8 bulb t5 or 8 bulb t8 (I haven't decided, but I will probably start with the t8 and see how they do) My ex-hempy set up can currently hold up to 12 moms, so I will add moms as I see fit/acquire genetics.

I will be looking for keeper mothers, so I will top them each around the 5th or 6th node, then root the tops and veg them for a couple weeks before flipping them.

For cloning, I will build a DIY aero-cloner with 24 sites.

I have a grow room in my house, then a complete 3 bedroom house just dedicated for this grow.

The lighting will be vertical 600 HPS, which I have 4 of, and I plan on putting them in the middle of some 8 plant donuts. My first run will be all 7 mother tops, which consist of 1 GSC, 2 Gelato, 2 NL, 2 GG.

I have room for many Donuts, in several rooms, so I will eventually be monocroping the best yielders in each donut, while kepng a couple to experiment.

I also have a few 315w CMH lights. I will use these as follows:
Once the clones are well rooted, they will go into a veg donut with a 315w CMH in the center until they are the right size and shape to go into flower. I have enough veg room to run two veg donuts simultaneously.

I will later experiment with running a donut completely through veg and flower with the CMH with two donuts side by side in their own room...next door, will be two donuts with 600w HPS powering them. That will be my experiment room.

My goal is to start by staggering each donut by about 2.5 weeks since these strains will all go 8-10 weeks. Maybe by the third or fourth donut, I will have complete donuts of one strain...then I will dial it in from there as far as veg time, which will be the toughest part since I will be training and defoliating in veg...but once I am loading a donut every 2.5 weeks, veg time is irrelevant. I think I have the space for 13ish donuts, so the master plan is to harvest a donut each week.

The system for the donuts will be an undercurrent system like Heath Nasty showed us back in the OG days... 5 gal buckets with 2.5 gal inner buckets full of 'ton.

First, I will show the spaces for the grow. with 1 8 plant donut set up to show size reference. Each donut takes up a litle bit less than 4'x4'.

The first picture is my grow room, in which I can comfortably fit 5 donuts:

Now the grow house. Under the stairs will be the mother/ propigation area.

I have already made the hempy buckets, tall and square:

And the circular extended reservoirs:

Since they are 4' fixtures, I am trying to decide between two separate layouts, depending on light footprint:

Or:

I will see how comfortably the 8 bulbs cover...it shouldn't be a problem...

The rest of the grow house is as follows:

Upstairs, there are 3 identical bedrooms that are very small. They can each fit only two flower donuts.

Back downstairs, the living room can handle another 2 flower donuts:

And the den/family room, or whatever you want to call it can hold the two veg donuts:

There are bathrooms up and downstairs, as well as a kitchen to play with.... the tap water is tds of 85 and PH of 6.0, so I believe my peters professional should lower that a tad, which will be right where I am looking for.

So all in all, there is room for 2 veg donuts and 13 flower donuts. It will take a few runs under my belt to get the dialage I am after, but we will see how it goes. I expect to be poppin some cheese beans here in the next few days... that will make a complete donut of mother tops.. I might make two aero cloners, just so that I can pick the best ones each run. I figure within donut #3, on, I should be able to monocrop each donut. Time will tell. My initial goal is to harvest a bow/donut, every two weeks, and go from there. The first harvest, I expect half of that since it will be just a quick one with not much veg time and all for personal stash and testing for my grow bro and me....

And here are the stars of the show so far, the young mothers:

A couple cotys are yellowing up already on one of the glue seedlings, so I will give it a very weak feeding in a couple days...then it will be into the hempies next week...

Perhaps I will use the t8 fixture for the mothers, and preveg the rooted clones under the t5 until they get their week or so in the veg donut before they get thrown into a flower donut....that will give me not only more control over veg, but kind of a staging area where I can amass the next donut clones that are already thriving....

I am going to mix a really light batch of peters 20-20-20 to give to the seedling with the yellow cotys...

When I started to mix it I checked the tds of the tap again and it is actually 182, not 82...so correction.

Two of the three cheese had taproots today and are now planted...this time I added plenty of perlite to those suckers so there isnt an over watering issue..
Also I can plant directly into hempy without worrying about removing as much soil as possible.

I am contemplating using my 9 bulb t5 rather than the 9 bulb t8 for mothers and perhaps a couple 8-10 site dwc tubs pre-veg staging area by the mothers and use the t8 fixture to root clones and perhaps a staging area for the preveg area so freshly rooted clones can develope a strong root system before going into pre veg where they will go to develop some branches and structure before moving into the veg donut where they will be trained and defoliated.

My logic for this move is that the weaker t8 lights promote more root building while the t5 is more branching development promoting. Since I want the mothers and preveg plants to branch, and the clones and freshly rooted clones to produce more roots...they might ought to have the lights that promote the result I am aiming for in the right place... Also, I can keep the t5 up a bit higher above the tops...so the footprint will be larger.

I decide a couple things. T5 for mothers in the following configuration for mothers, which I just transplanted to hempies today... I also started a public grow journal in the vertical section called : The Compound.

I watered in the hempies with around 328ppm at 6.0ph

I lowered the lights to about 16" or so, and did a little feeding at 365, 6.0 ppm/ph. I also put 2.5g in the expanded reservoirs so the hempies can leech it up into the buckets....

After looking at the leaves this evening, I decided I am going back to 5.8 ph tomorrow, and not feeding them until later in the day to make sure the medium is dry first... as for GG4, I am going to keep an eye on her, perhaps let her dry out for the whole of tomorrow and see how she does.

Everything is coming along nicely... still concerned about GG4 though.... I am trying to figure out the problem... started with over watering due to soggy soil starter plugs....then I don't know if low PH at 6.0 locked out P since it has been in soil and P is uptaken starting at 6.5... or what. Nute burn seems unlikely because nutes have been light. The new growth looks pretty good if not a little light in color.
