Bored to tears at work...

A little more detail..

Wanna create a system that requires minimum input and delivers maximum possible yields...

Gonna use a combination of systems..

The goal - A perpetual bi-weekly harvest of 1kg...

How we gonna go about this?

Well my grow is situated +/- 100 km's from my place of residence.
This is why the need for low input! I have a partner who is not a grower or at all interested in that aspect of things - but is willing to put in a bit of donkey work.
he will do all the building, renovations and maintenance and will be required to feed plants once a week!

Seeds will be germinated locally at a mates place - regular - soak in sterilised water, lay into roller towel to germinate then into 2l hempy's.(chosen medium - Cocopeat & Perlite)
+/- 2 weeks then off to farm and into summer room.

Fimmed at 4th inter-node, allowed to re-establish and re-potted into 10l hempy's.

Aiming to take 24 clones in 2 months which will then enable me to choose the selected phenotype and establish mother plants.

Regular cloning system in bubbler box to feed summer room, establish a perfect vegging period and flower in supersoil in greenhouse.

That's it in a nutshell..

Let's see how it goes!

Howdy from RSA

If im reading correct is that 5 seeds of Og x Critical or 5 packs?

Im not sure how controlled your indoor will be but usually with 5 seeds you are not likely to find a proper production plant that suits the local climate and conditions, produces a production quality yield, and is immune to local plagues like powdery mildew, mites etc. OG in particular doesn't usually yield a lot (but I have not run the seeds you got so i dunno).

Wishing you the best of luck in your search!

Super soil is definitely the way to go in my opinion for a hassle free grow. It allows you to tinker and top dress different things onto different plants as they need or like. Each plant is different.

In a hydro setup all the plants get fed the same through the res and you cant individualize the care.

Thanks for the interest Oldbootz!
Just 5 seeds, will choose the best of them.

O.G is notorious for low yields, hence the cross with critical.
Get's very good reports and i'm confident that i should eventually get 100g dry per plant!

I want to harvest 12 plants every 2-3 weeks.

Got the most awesome nutrients and feeding schedule, gonna make use of fimming, topping, and L.S.T to maximise yields

Thanks again for the good wishes, watch this space and feel free to weigh in with any advice or tips

Tah Dah!

Collected my beans from the post office on Saturday 14.10.17!
That will then count as day 1!

New t-shirt(G13 labs - premium seeds) to add to the collection!

Looks rather dissapointing when you lay it out on a table and think of the money spent.. Well it's an investment.

The bred seeds look so scrawny, underdeveloped and light in colour as if they aren't properly matured?

Layed them into sterilised water around 15h00...

Day 2(24 hrs) all the seeds have sunk and some show signs of seed case cracking!!
Will make a call tonight but i would expect at least another 24 hrs.

P.s I think previous problems with mildew was due to laziness!
I used pre-mixed coco/perlite from a previous grow and it still had some moisture(+/- 6 months!)!!

Mixed up a fresh batch yesterday...

All ready to roll, watch this space! [url='https://www.icmag.com/ic/picture.php?albumid=74889&pict ureid=1792366'][/u

Buenos Dias All!!

Day 4 - Effectively 72hrs since removing goodies from packaging!
(I got a fucked up time keeping schedule, I know!)

Success!! - 100% germination rate!

Just want to take a minute to plug my suppliers!
If you live in my neck of the woods it's not always easy to source the required seeds or equipment.. Many of the international seedbanks will not ship to S.A.
The Attitude seedbank sources from all over the world and ships to my nearest post office!
The aftersales service received from Lauren and her team is superb and I can Highly recommend giving them a try!

Once again I have my belief in Dinafem confirmed!

Right, down to the nitty gritty!

New hempy's with fresh coco/perlite well fed with Hydro A & B at 6.0ph to create resevoir...

Starting on my low maintenance schedule where they will be fed twice weekly(Saturdays and Wednesdays)

1. Delicious Seeds - Northern Light Blue - Auto
Smallest of developed roots after 72hrs(24 in water, 48 in moistened roller towel) - The root tip seems to have curled around almost around itself. Planted carefully and hopefully will correct itself and grow towards the light.

2. Blinburn - Girl Scout Cookies
Very impressed! Good long root, signs of green(sun leaves) inside seed casing whilst still in roller towel!! Looking forward to see what she delivers.

3. Dinafem - Big Kush
The Main Event!
Looking fantastic long, snow white roots!

All planted, placed under a 36w Cool white(6500k) CFL at night, onto covered porch in the day(+/- 6hrs direct sunlight during the day.

Expecting to see first greenery tonight, should have 5 plants by tomorrow night!

What you guys think?

It is with great sadness and regret that I have to mention that I learned of the passing on of a great friend of mine...

"The Colonel" a true legend, gentleman and passionate supporter of the plant!

"you will be greatly missed my dear friend, I will miss all the good smokes, great discussions and the making of exciting plans!
Keep on toking, show them how it's done and start preparing our next garden!!"

I know you will always be around and looking over us - I dedicate the Girl Scout Cookies to you as i know how excited you were!

Rest in Peace my brother!

Good morning All!

Been away a couple of days with memorial services and such...

Back to the business at hand!

Super impressed with my baby girls!
5 days after removing from packaging and I have 5 plants above ground, 4/5 still have seed case but it's only a matter of time..

1. Northern Light Blue Auto - Seems the weakest of the bunch, originally had the curved root. Root seems dark in colour and withered but there are signs of green leaves under the seed casing.
Will stick with it and hope for the best - maybe when the sun leaves come out and the little "food factories" start producing she will right herself?
Holding thumbs for my Christmas smoke!!!

2. Girl Scout Cookies - Standing tall above coco, seed case swollen and cracked, seems to be housing big leaves!
The strain I am dedicating to the Colonel - excited to see what she has to offer!

3.Big Kush - The Main Event!
#1 already open showing signs of serated leaves - small thinly shaped sun leaves, good colour.
#2 almost shedding seed case - maybe 8/12 hrs?
#3 not far behind!

Only visiting and feeding on day 8 - watch this space!

Bon Giorno mi amici!

Well day 8 - effectively 4 days since breaking ground!

Left hempy's in weaker light in order to purposely induce stretch.
Worked maybe too well... Plants looking weak and spindly and curved towards light source...

Gave 1st feed since planting(Hydro A $ B @ 6.00ph) and propped up with surrounding coco.. Will push down tonight and fill hempy's with fresh coco/perlite - hopimng to promote feeder root growth!

Popped under correct light(36w cfl 6500k) at about 10cm, this will now straighten the up and stop the stretch.

Oscillating fan brought into the equation in order to promote stem developement...

1. The Auto - Was worried about her, stem was dark in colour and seemed shrivelled. Well looking much better! Leaves are out and seem healthy enough. The least stretched of the girls, maybe a bit stunted but looking good - Go Christmas smoke!!!

2. The Colonels' Cookies! - Looking good, got a whole lot of stretch on her and will plant deeper tonight(day 9). Leaves have a good colour, stem is nice and translucent. Expecting big things from her!

3. Big Kush - Looking fantastic. major stretch on stems, nice leaf developement, lighter in colour than auto or cookies. #2 seems to be the most vigorous.

Will do some cosmetic maintenance tonight and pretty them up a little. Results of correct light and fan should be evident within the next few days, watch this space...

Any comments, suggestions or feedback??

Well, not too much to report...

Evidence of more stretching yesterday even though the girls are now 10cm under 36w cfl(6500k)?
Topped up hempy's, plants now buried till just under the sun leaves, hoping newly covered part of stem will now produce new feeder roots.

Tonight will be 48hrs under the better light!
Got some positive feedback this morning, it seems that the stretch has stabilised - will check it out tonight!

1.Auto - Looking suprisingly healthy, least stretched of baby's, good colour, healthy stem.

2.Cookies - 1st set of sertated leaves looking a bit odd, misshapen, could be a genetic defect, had to physically remove seed case and leaves were already slightly developed - could this be the cause?
Colour is good and stem looks fine, will keep an eye on next set of leaves...

The Kush - Seems to have stretched excessively, planted nice and deep and gave place of preferance under the light. Colour is beautiful and there is evidence of 2nd leaf set.

Will only feed again at day 11

Until then just keeping an eye on the stretch!

Next major objective is to F.I.M/Top at the the 4th internode...

Goeie More...

Just a blitz update, no pics...

Visited last night as I was a bit concerned with stretch..
They have stabilised under the correct light, oscillating fans have had a definite impact on stem developement!

They are looking fantastic!
Colour is good, stems seem strong and 2nd set of serated leaves are clearly visible!

Will give second feed tonight(day 11) and take some pics..

Basically 10 days untill they take up permanent residence in the "summer room"...

Till tomorrow then... Totsiens

Dumelang!

Day 11! - Effectively 7 days(1 week) since breaking ground.

Must say I am very pleased with the progress. Environmental conditions have been controlled, feeding schedule seems to be working, now it's just a matter of patience..

The light spectrum is perfect, a little inadequate for the vigorous growth required(I am used to vegging under 250w MH) but is nonetheless delivering "healthy" growth.

In around 10 days the girls will be moving to the summer room and each plant will then get it's own dedicated 45w cfl(6500k) , initially and that in conjunction with extra little "food factories" and larger roots should stimulate faster growth!

Got to remind myself constantly that patience is a virtue!
"Haastige hond verbrand sy mond!"
Trying to lay the foundation for a lasting perpetual harvest so speed is not the main issue - rather healthy bushes to start!

1. The Auto - looking good, slowest of the 5, 2nd set of leaves clearly visible, darker in colour than cookies or kush

2. Cookies - looking alright, bit worried about crinckled 1st serated leaves, 2nd set visible, hoping that they will be better and start producing the goods.

3. The Kush - The main event and rightly so, Looking fantastic! Leaf developement is good, 2nd sets by the far most developed, inter-nodal spacing now evident. Very excited - can't wait to fim!!

Well looking good...

Nice steady progress, good developement, good colour..

1. Auto - evidence of nute burn! As previously stated I use one strenght nutes for entire lifecycle. Don't think it suits the auto. Flushed with 6ph water, will flush again on day 18, then switch to organic feed - diluted kelp/seaweed extract. 2nd leaf set seems ok, caught it in time!

Auto

2.Cookies - Looking good, 2nd leaf set does not seem to have any deformities.

Cookies

3.Big Kush - Looking world class, good leaf developement, fantastic colour, reasonably vigorous growth...

Hey, nice grow! Seems like you know what you are doing ;-)
Sorry to enter your journal. But I wanted to ask you a question, since I didn't get any reply in my thread.
You recommended me the strain pineapple express #2. Unfortunately I was not able to find any reliable information. Wanted to grow 60 or more plants in SOG and make mothers.

So did you grow that strain yourself?

Shot for the interest S&M...

A mate of mine grew the pineapple express#1 and was pleasantly surprised by short flowering times and above expected yields with good mould resistance...

#2 has got bigger yield reportedly... good luck and stay in touch!

Effectively 14 days since breaking ground...

I tried to supplement with natural sunlight... Got some more stretch!
Once again, impatience! That settles it! Will stay under lights from now on!

Auto - Definite nute burn on 1st set of leaves! Evidence of burn on 1 of second leaf set. Flushed for a second time with 6.0ph water, Will switch to a diluted kelp regimen on next feed(day 22) and hope for the best - definitely the slowest of the 5!

Auto

The Cookies - 1st set of leaves have what looks like rust spots? Definitely not nute burn - leaf tips not burnt or curling. Possibly evidence of the genetic defect. 2nd leaf set seems healthy enough, hoping for the best...

Cookies

Big Kush - Looking fantastic! Very happy with progress, evidence of 3rd leaf set. Colour is amazing and growth is vigorous...

Effectively 18 days since breaking ground!

Bit of bad news!
Partner on the farm has chickened out!!

Need to find a home for my girls, looking like orphans at the moment..

All good on the growing front, just the logistics that need to be sorted out!

1. The Auto - Definitely burnt them with linctified salts... Flushed again with 6.0ph water. 2nd leaf set shows slight signs 9of nute burn. Started flushing in time and will switch to kelp feeding regimen this week. Very slow grower compared to photo sensitive plants - wondering if it's even worth the effort?

Auto

2.Cookies - 2nd leaf set looking healthy, no sign of defect on leaves.
might have stunted growth slightly but is looking healthy. Stunted growth might be good till they find homes!

Cookies

3. The Big Kush - The main event!
Looking fantastic, good growth, good colour, 3rd leaf set evident.
Hoping to fim in the next 10-12 days
