Don't use soil at all, +/- 60/40 coco peat, perlite. The higher percentage of perlite, gives more protection against nute burn

3 weeks since breaking ground...

No good news on finding a home for my baby's!
Might have to re-plan a couple of aspects, got a bit of time and the priority right now is to maintain healthy plants!

With that regard, majority of plants looking good and almost ready to be fimmed!

1. Auto - Definitely stunted due to nute burn, 1st set of real leaves show very slight sign of burn, the flushing seems to have rectified the problem - lack of correct nutes has definitely stunted development.
Fed with seaweed/kelp extract for the 1st time, interested to see the results.

Auto

2. Cookies - Genetic defect only evident on 1st leaf set, 2nd true leaf set shows no signs of defect or stress. Hoping to fim on day 29 but will wait for 4th set of true leaves

Cookies

3. Big Kush - Overjoyed by the performance of my main strain!
Looking fantastic! 3rd set of true leaves are clearly visible and will definitely F.I.M on day 29. Good colour, nice stem development and healthy looking leaves!

#3

#2 seems to be a different pheno to #1 and #3 - seems to be the most robust...

Any feedback to offer?

Back in Business!!
Found a home for my little orphans!

Pretty much the same set-up as originally envisioned, gonna take some precautionary measures to prevent being left in the lurch again!

Even though I now have a dedicated summer room, I am going to make use of a fully mobile modular system.
I am today going to order a .8m x .8m x 1.8m grow tent to house the 4 photo plants until I'm happy with set-up in summer room.
This will eventually be turned into a mother tent in order to isolate and keep mother plant safe!

Hoping to FIM on day 32 and repot on day 35 and finally move to a permanent home on day 36 - Well overdue but a solid foundation has been built!!

1. The Auto - What an absolute waste of time....
Weak ass little plant, stunted by nute burn, not waisting any more time on it... Feeding with seaweed extract and looking slightly better but way too slow... Will be put straight into garden on day 35 and left to fend for herself!!! - Maybe 1/2 joints???

Auto

2. The Cookies - looking great.. removed the leaves that showed signs of genetic defects.. looking much better, broader leaves than the kush. Fantastic colour, good solid stem. definitely be fimmed on day 32.

Cookies

3.The Big Kush - The main event and definitely living up to expectations, Slight spot on 2nd leaf set of #3, slight downward curl? Definitely not nute burn! Will keep an eye on it!
#2 seems to be of a different phenotype - All 3 will be fimmed on day 32 - at long last I get to move on to next stage!!

p.s that's #1

Well, exactly 1 month since fetching seeds from post office...

Happy with progress! Got 4 healthy plants and 1 weak ass auto!
1st step - germination and propogation went off without a hitch

Finally found a permanent home for my girls and it's game on!

Went and purchased an 80 x 80 x 180 grow tent and all fittings!

Fimmed the 4 photo plants, will re-pot on day 35 and place into tent on day 36 with increased light( 3 x 45w cfl 6500k) which should stimulate growth.
the next step of the journey is to do L.S.T and create healthy little bushes with maximum clonable shoots. I'm hoping to take 24 clones( 6 x 4) by mid December.

The next challenge is to get the summer room geared. I have managed to buy some time with the tent!
Extraction and drainage pose the biggest test.

Sorry no pics this time!
Hope to have some nice ones showing the results of my fimming soon.

At long last my girls have gone to there permanent home!
Summer room not yet completed but work is in progress. The tent to house plants was an inspired idea!

There will be no more transporting of plants and they can now settle into a permanent routine. 1st time they will get a fixed light cycle of 18/6 and light has been increased from 36w to 135w.
I will also only be tending them once a week with partner picking up feeding shifts on Wednesdays.

On the growing front, evidence of nute burn which is strange as I have never had problems with my feeding schedule. I think I might have cocked up when mixing the concentrates!

Flushed with 6.0ph water after re-potting...
Mixed next batch of nutes at 80% and 5.8ph, will keep an eye on it!

1. The auto - small and puny, planted straight into the garden, watered with Kelpac and will now leave it to it's own devices - We will see what happens!

2.The Cookies - Looking good, couple of spots of nute burn. have taken steps to correct - nice broad leaves, much wider than the Kush

3.The Big Kush - Looking good, vigorous growth, evidence of nute burn. pheno's 1 & 3 seem similar and 2 seems to be the most vigorous with smaller inter nodle spaces.

Update, via phone calls and watsapp pictures...

pre-mixed nutes, ph went up from 5.8ph to 6.1ph - partner amended to 5.8ph and fed.

Fuck I missed!!! Fimming attempt seems to have resulted in topping, 2 growth points visible on each plant.

Evidence of nute burn has me a little concerned!
I have never had problems with the nutes I am using so I will chalk it up to human error - I obviously cocked it up when mixing my concentrates.
Will toss the batch and carefully mix up new concentrates on sunday(day 42) paying specific attention to nitrogen...

In general I am quite happy...
Can't wait to see babies on the week-end as I will then be able to make proper judgement on vigour of growth and results of nute burn!

To re-cap:

Step 1: Germinate healthy plants - check! 100% germination rate!

Step 2: Fimming of plants at 4th node - Check! not so great but
all plants topped.

Step 3: Transplanted into 10l hempys - Check! Succesfully
re-potted and housed.

Next step is to super crop on the week-end and by the following week L.S.T can be begun in earnest.

Watch this space, I will post pictures and full update after the week-end

Bon Giorno mi amici!

Day 42(38 since breaking ground) and progressing nicely.
settling nicely into my routine, Weekly visit yesterday and quite satisfied with what is happening.

Lingering evidence of nute burn but new growth seems to be better since amending nutes for the last feed(80%).
Tossed all the concentrates and mixed up a fresh batch carefully weighing out the ratios.

Starting to dial in the nutes/ph down level, got it at a perfect 5.8...Mixed nutes for mid-week feed at 5.5 and will see if it needs amendment on Wednesday.

Fimming/topping seems to have been a bust as there is only clear split on 1 plant(Big Kush #3)

1. The Cookies - Evidence of pre-existing nute burn.. New growth seems unaffected. Leaves are nice and broad and have good colour. Fimming/topping seems to have failed. Did aggressive super cropping and will top again next week after establishment of a knuckle.

Cookies

2.The Big Kush - The main event, living up to expectations!
Pre-existing nute burn - #2 seems more susceptible. New growth seems healthy, lateral growth evident, especially on #3 that was topped correctly.
1.

2.

3.

All plants aggressively super cropped! should have knuckles by next week, will then top all in-split plants and start with lst the following week.

babies settled in at home and looking good!

Day 45!
Update via telephone!

Partner checked ph which had fallen to 5.3!!! Ammended to the correct 5.8 and fed.

From what I see, there is a definite thickening of the stem where I super cropped. The nutes seem to be correct now as there is no evidence of burn on the new growth.

Leaves are looking waxy and healthy. Kush #1 seems a bit off colour but I can't really tell from the pics I was sent.

overall I am satisfied, will pop in for weekly maintenance on the week-end. I will then top all plants that have not split and will start lst on those that have(definitely Kush#3)

Will upload some pics then(Day 48)

Good morning all!

Day 48 - 44 days from delivery received!

More than impressed, the growth this week has been exponential!
I was worried about the cfl's as opposed to mhi but it was unnecesary.
The 3 x 45w cfl(6 500k) is doing the job, growth is vigorous and I dare say a lot more cost effective.

The nutes have been fixed! Just goes to show, measure twice cut once. Since I correctly measured ratios for nute concentrates all signs of nute burn have disappeared and the girls seem to be loving the chow! Leaves appear waxy, strong and good in colour.

A little disappointed in the results of fimming/topping, pinched growth points too long hoping it would result in fimming(4 points) well didn't split or results too slow for my liking...
Aggresively re-topped - lopped the growth point off of all 4 plants and will now await the results. This might have stunted growth a little but as previously stated speed not the main objective. Should be able to start lst in earnest within next 2 weeks!

Super cropping was a resounding success!
The girth of stems above the knucles have almost doubled in the last week. Straightened up nicely and knuckles are clearly visible.

1. The Cookies - Wide leaves, looking waxy and healthy, Lateral development clearly visible. No sign of nute burn. Re-topped, maybe to aggressively, cut off 1 of top leaves not attached to growth point but overall very satisfied.

2.The Kush - Looking good, recovering nicely from nute burn. Definite difference in phenotypes(1&3 seem similar, 2 has shorter inter nodle spaces and narrower leaves) In general I am very happy with the progress shown, lateral development better than on cookies, aggressively topped and now waiting to start lst

As you can see 3 seems to be the strongest!

Babies happily at home...

Day 53 via telephone update...

Missed feeding on day 52, fed this morning(day 53) at 6.0ph...

Nutes are now definitely sorted, there is absolutely no evidence of nute burn. Leaves are looking waxy, healthy and good in colour!

The aggressive topping seems to have done the job! There is clear evidence of splitting! Much faster than the results of the attempted fimming - Think I just stunted the plants!
2 more days to go before my next visit and I'm hoping that I can start with LST!

Fan leaves have extended over the rim of my containers but have no discolouration, making the girls look odd. Definite boom on lateral growth - have high hopes of cloning toward the end of the month - Go Go little bushes!

Will post day 55 updates with pics on Monday morning.

Ciao all have a good week-end!

Good morning all!
Hope the week-end was good!

Baby girls are pushing hard, seem to be loving nutes and environment.
Growth is reasonably vigorous, I am more than impressed with the CFL'S... Definitely more cost effe ctive than Mhi and speed is not to badly affected.

What I saw on arrival(Day 55)

Not looking bad at all....

You know me, can't leave well enough alone...
Seriously aggressive maintenance..

Super cropped all plants just below the "topped" internode and defoliated to a large extent - removed all sun leaves, all lower lying leaves that was blocked from light and all leaves with signs of nute burn or damage/defects....

Looking a little wittled away at this stage but with cloning in mind I believe that it will yield positive results...
LST to start in earnest next week-end(Day 62)

1. The Cookies - Good results from the aggressive topping, top growth point has definitely split into 3 points. 2 nicely developed, 1 is stunted but coming along... Red "stress stripes" on stem, below topped internode, stressed it more! Super cropped on stressed part of stem- wondering how long it will stunt development? Loving the nutes, colour is good and lateral growth is developing... Totally different in structure to the Kush - shaped more like a Christmas tree - fix that soon enough with LST - next week!

2.The Big Kush - Looking fantastic, good growth, good colour. Nice results from the topping... #1 split into 2.. #2has 3 top growth points... #3 has 4 top points - fim success!!!
#1 & #3 are definitely the same pheno type and #2 is clearly different.. I assume #1 & #3 are from the Critical .2 while #2 seems to be more O.G.
All 3 super cropped just below topped inter node and defoliated.. LST to start in earnest next week!

#1

#2

#3

#3 seems to be by far the most vigorous and keenest to grow...

What I left behind(Day 55)

Why so quiet? Nothing to add or observe?

Day 59 - via telephone update...

Feeling much better after aggressive defoliation!
Plants have recovered well, lateral growth has boosted, clonable shoots are clearly visible!
11 more days of vegging, then I aim to take 6 clones from each plant!

Nutes are definitely the shit! No signs of burn, spots or anything worrying!
Lst can start in earnest on Saturday and that should result In larger clonable shoots.

"Gonna strap them bitches down"

Will update on Monday morning with pics(Day 62)

Good morning to one and all!
Is the Christmas spirit upon thee?

My babies are doing well! Defoliated a whole lot last week but they have bounced back, healthier and stronger... Lateral growth has exploded and there are identifiable clones!

What I found on arrival...

Day 62 before...

quiet happy with the progress... now for LST...

1.The Cookies - Recovered well from defoliation, almost unrecognizable... Tied back 3 main growth points - was alittle aggressive and broke the 1 branch, taped it up immediately! Hope there was no embolism and that it will come back bigger and stronger! Happy with 3 anchor points, expecting a little bush soon.

The Big Kush - Looking great! Much more vigorous in growth than the cookies. Much better original shape. Lateral growth has increased exponentially.

#1. Not happy with topping, only 1 discernable growth point, did no LST but looking all right - definitely the same pheno as #3.

#1

#2 - definite splitting resulting from topping - there are 2 growth points, little under developed for LST, will start next week..

#2

#3 - Definitely the strongest, most vigorous grower, 2 identifiable growth points, tied back and waiting for her to bush. Healthy looking "clonable" shoots

#3

What I left behind....

Very happy in general...

Update via telephone...

All looks good! No evidence of damage after breaking the girl scout cookies. Whoa what a relief.
Definite bush shape developing on the plants that have been started on lst regimen.
The other two should be ready to be tied back by the week-end.

So a re-cap after 66 days(from collection of seeds at Post Office)

step 1 - germination and propogation - 100% success rate, all germinated, planted into 2l hempy's and raised on kitchen counter! - Thanks to my mate Walk Tall a.k.a The Germinator!!

step 2 - Creating correct environment and feeding schedule - Took a bit longer than I would have liked, miscalculated when mixing nute concentrates and experienced some nute burn! Definitel retarded growth. All sorted now, loving the nutes growing like crazy.
The dedicated mother tent has also made a huge difference and was definitely worth the investment. Re-potted into 10l hempy's, settled in and flourishing.

step 3 - High stress training - Made an attempt at fimming, not so great 1/4 split into more than 2 growth points.
Supper-cropped just below 1st internode and then just below topped point. Has responded well, clear evidence of knuckles and an explosion of lateral growth.

step 4 - Low Stress Training - Tied back top growth points on 2/4 plants(broke Cookies but repaired!) lateral growth is definitely flourishing. Hope to tie back other 2 this week-end.
Lateral shoots will then be topped and super-cropped!

step 5 - Cloning - Hope to clone on 30/12/17 if all goes well! Have decided to be patient and clone decent sized plants.
Have already got all cloning apparatus assembled and raring to go.
Need to create healthy little bushes that will each give me 6 healthy clones!

Good morning all! Hope you had a fantastic Christmas...
Delayed update due to public holidays and all the festivities..

Very happy with the progress.. Things are progressing at a satisfactory rate, LST is showing results and there are definite clonable shoots.

What I found on arrival..

Looking good!

1. The Cookies - Tied back 2 more growth points and did a little super cropping on lateral branches. 6 Clonable shoots of varying sizes - Possible to clone next week-end - seems slightly thin and spindly compared to the Kush.

Cookies day 69 after pruning and LST

2. The Kush - Not too happy with the number of growth points on #1 and #2 so topped again - just lopped the whole top growth point off! #3 Has split magnificently and I tied back another 3 growth points - easily produce 6 clonable shoots of reasonable size!

#1

#2

#3

Decided that I would clone on Saturday 30/12/17 this would give smaller clonable shoots an extra week to develop...

What I left behind...

Now I am in two minds..

I am considering topping and super cropping all lateral growth points and giving it another week and then cloning on 06/01/18.
the reasoning behind this is that I think my partner will need the extra week to finalise the summer room and surely bigger clones are better!

Will post an update via telephone later today or tomorrow, then I have a few days to decide..

Anybody want to weigh in with an opinion?

Plants look great!! Super cropping sounds a good idea doesn't slow the growth down as much as topping. Could do some LSTing and leaf tucking to maximise lateral growth. Keep up the good journey

Thanks towerofgiraffe, gonna hang off on the cloning for 1 more week, will do more super cropping and I'm gonna top all lateral points to try and get thicker stems on clones ready with knucles and numerous growth points
