CannaVenture's Grapefruit D-Lite test grow by sneaky

Hello all, just started these beans about a week and a half ago. They have been out of the dome for 4 days now and looking very good. Just to let you know a little about my setup:

2 tents--1- 3x3 and 1 2x4

600 and 400 watts

Gonna be going hydro, rdwc

Fans/filters, the whole sha-bang.

Nutes are botanicare grow/bloom
Sweet
Liquid karma
Bloom basic
Humbolt gravity and snow storm
Floralicious

Obviously I won't be using all those nutes for each one. I'm running my trials on the bloom basic vs him bolt right now.

Temps are stable in the low to mid 80s during lights on and high 60s to low 70s with lights on.

Any tips or insights along the way will be appreciated.

Right now they are under 400 watts in the 2x4 tent trying not to get over run.

Today is the first I've noticed the fist set of 3 fingered leaves. Looking good under the 400 watts. Will post a pic or two in the next few days.

Snapped a few pics for all to see. They are growing great. No issues at all. They are working on their 3rd set of 3 fingered leaves.

This is at day 10

Ok everyone, got the new blockbuster hood yesterday and the 1k lamp. I went with eye hortilux. I saw the new bulbs designed for e ballast so I figured I would give it a shot. I went ahead and put the 1k in the 3x3 tent and moved the 600 to the 2x4 tent and will move the 400 to my veg cab and do away with the cfls. The 1k and 600 are both turned down 1 notch until I see what will happen with temps. 750 watts and 400 respectively.

So red, those grapefruit d-lite girls (however many there are) will be basking in some strong light. I am so anxious for my current run to be over (almost out) so I can see what 750-1000 watts can do. My last run was the first one with the 600watts, and that was only about half of the bloom cycle and now I've bumped that up even more! Maybe I can pull 1 1/2 elbows out of here this time thats just under 1 g/w at 750 watts. We will see

Got the 400 watt ballast installed in the veg cab and temps look pretty good in there with the cool tube mounted all the way at the top. High of 88F so far and that's with no interior fan for circulation. Will get that once they get just a hit bigger.

Had a slight accident the other day when I was pulling them out of the tent with some big girls in there. One of the little grapefruits got hung up on a branch and fell over and snapped in half, well, almost. It was still intact, just couldn't support her *fingers crossed* weight. So I had her propped up for the past couple of days just to see if she would make it. She still looked good yesterday, so instead of waiting for them all to get a little bigger, I went ahead and re potted them. The one that is in the taller white pot is the one that had an accident. It is ocean Forrest soil.

Hard to tell this early, at least for me, but I think I see 2 different phenos. Then again, I am often full of shit. So you have a look-see and let me know what you guys think.

On a side note.......come on 276 for the drawing tonight!!!

So every time I look in my veg cab all I can see is how crowded it is going to be here in about 2 weeks or so. Well, I couldn't help myself. I wanted the ladies to have just a little more space with the other things that I will need in there. So I just ordered a new tent. Not too much bigger, but will give me the space to really do this right. It is a 3x2x5-1/4' tent, with will give me almost double the space.

I went ahead and snapped a few pics while they are still in this old one. The first 2 pics are of the same plant and has a little bit of yellowing around the edges of the leaves, but other than that, all is going well And not counting the single leaf at the bottom, there are 4 nodes and #5 is pushing through.

I feel ya stihg. I wasn't gonna have enough room in the veg cab with all my other strains I've got going ATM too. I knew it was coming and had been postponing getting another tent until now. Just got my ~3x2 veg tent, which is an upgrade from my ~18"x30". Yippie!!!

For the moment at least, there is plenty of room in there. Here she is with some pics I just snapped

Also, I robbed my 3x3 tent. That tent had 3 fans in it and one of them wasn't doing much, so I saved $20.

As for the grapefruits, there seems to be 3 different sizes. 1 that is taller and fatter (male ya think), 3 that are in the middle, and 2 that look shorter and narrower to me. All but the bigger one have leaf curling. I thought only 2 had it , but when I just looked 5 had it. The 3 xtra may have just happened because they were out of the cab during installation or because they had an indirect breeze for the first time. Guess I will have to pay close attention to the fan when I turn it on (just turned it off to see if that would help the curling).

So this update is approaching the 1 month from seed stage. Except for the curling, all is well with all but 1 of the plants. That one is one of the smaller ones and has some yellowing around the leaves. I'm waiting for this soil try dry out before watering again (obviously) with a very, very
iChat feeding to see if that helps. Just need to get some soil nutes, which will have to be next week.

Thanks for looking, and see you next time.

lookin good, i wish i had the room or a house to put a tent in, i don't have the room or environment to go bigger. which leaves are curling, and which way? down like a claw? too much nitrogen, if its the edges of the leaves curling up, it might be magnesium def starting, or do you mean the leaf blades all fold up like a V in that case my plants are doing it too so it might be mag def which they all showed earlier in week 2-3 or it might be a trait in the genes.

Well, a couple I might describe as a v shape, but the others may be the mag def. I'll give them a light cal mag watering with just a bit of food and see if that helps. Thanks for the tip.

I finally made 420 posts!!!

Alright all, I believe one is showing me a white pistil. It's just a single hair ATM, so I don't think the camera will pick it up yet. Maybe if I wait 2-3 more days to clone as planned they will all sex..li know, I know. Wishful thinking, but we will see. More to come...

Still no pics yet. Gonna cut them in half in the next day or so, so will snap a few then.

So far 50% female. 3 of 6. There is 1 suspected male, but still waiting to confirm. The other 2 have still yet to show any signs of sex.

4/6 confirmed females. Cut their heads off yesterday and threw them in the flower tent just to get them all to sex ASAP. Figure I will let them hang out for a bit in there while their tops are cloning. Will take pics for the next update once I confirm all sexes.

Finally, an update with a few pics. Nothing special, really just of the tops I'm cloning. #4 showed roots today, day 6. A couple of the others look like they are about to take off.

The grapefruits are only in the cloner. The plants that were topped we're put in the dark recesses of a flower tent and I forgot to take pics of them. Nothing special but they are stretching pretty good hunting down some light. Figure if they can make it another 10 days or so I may have room for them in a different tent so I don't have to throw them out. Don't really want to, so we will see. I just do much better going hydro, tend to neglect the soil plants. Go figure...

Good news. 3/6 have already rooted and the other 3 look like roots will start shooting out any minute now. The 2 that I'm not sure about sex still haven't shown. Will check again later today when lights come on. Nothing else to report except that my other tent is about done and once it is cleaned out I will throw the GD-Lite in that tent so they can stretch out and get all the light they want. See you all next time...

Looks like 4/6 were females. Just threw out the 2 with balls along with their clones.
