Strain Name: NL x Shiva
Breeder: Nirvana
Posted By: thescientist on 07-16-2011
Genotype: mostly indica
Flowering Time: 8-9 weeks
Grow Location: Indoor
Sea of Green? No
Sex Characteristics: I started with clones. Hermies were not a problem
Stature: Gets to be around 4 feet tall on avg but will stre
Yield: 2 to 2-1/2 onces per plant using 1000w HPS & co2
Odor: Nice spicy smell not unpleasant at all and doesnt linger on clothes or equipment. Good for a low-key op.
Taste: Spicy and rich with a slight bubblegum flavor. I would rate this strain a 9 for taste. As smooth as they get. Equally good in a fatty or out of a b
Buzz: Relaxing, recreational buzz. No headache or paranoia but very potent.
Grow Info: Clones root easily in under a week using aero. I flip them at anywhere between 12" & 18" and transplant to 4 gallon pots of pro-mix. This strain will take full advantage of co2 and lots of light and can be pushed to grow monster buds. Pest resistant and strong. Keep the lights close to avoid stretching - I'd suggest cooled hoods or a light mover. Plant support is important, I add 4ft bamboo poles during transplant. Leave a lot of the side branches - with 6-7 side branches you will still see massive colas, I don't recommend topping this plant. I fed em heavy with sensi 2part, Big Bud and plenty of carboload. Two weeks before harvest I start to flush feeding only carbs for another week. At harvest time fan leaves turn yellow and red colors and start to fall off. The buds get very dense the last week and a half. You don't need to convince these plants to finish. By 9 weeks they are ready to go.

Here is a nice row of NL x shiva. You can get an idea of their size by looking at the fan in the back.

A side branch. Side branches produce nice colas on this strain.

You can see the purple better in this shot. The phenotype I grew was always a bright lilac color.

I like for the leaves to go a little yellow in the end.

NL x Shiva Is my favorite strain to grow.
The phenotype I had was a very colorful purple which put many
purple-bred strains to shame.

Breeders Description:
Northern Lights crossed with Shiva creates wonderfully pungent sweet buds with bountiful THC. This plant has high flower to leaf ratio. NL/Shi has a bit spicier smoke when compared to Northern Lights and has a more complex buzz. This strain is a timeless classic. NL/Shi has a exotic aroma, is relatively easy to grow and clone.

The smoke is rich and spicy and very very smooth. Buds were
super easy to trim since very little leaf material was produced.
Production was great with an avg yield of 2oz per plant. 8-9 weeks was
enough time to get the most out of them. Like most NL crosses I had no
pest problems and the plants were always healthy. There were some very
latent hermaphroditic traits but it took a lot of stress for that to
happen and even then it was limited to a few bananas late in flower.

The odor is minimal like NL though the two do not smell alike.
