Lemon Diesel x Apollo11G F4 Grow Notes
I popped all of them at the same time on 4/15. Out of the 11 that I had 8 of them ended up making it past germination and into soil. Interestingly all 8 of those were female. I ran those 8 all the way through to the finish of flower. I always number my different plants tallest to shortest so #1 is the biggest and going on down. I kept the 6 shorter phenos inside to flower and the tallest two went outside to go full season. I think that it's a safe assumption that all the taller phenos were the most lemon diesel leaning and the shorter ones were the A11 dominant. This showed in the plant structure and finished buds as well. Coincidentally, the LD phenos all seemed to be hermi prone unfortunately. None were culled but I isolated the #3 plant in my small greenhouse outside to finish out under sunlight as it has the most hermaphradite flowers on it. The #4 had a decent amount of nanners on it as well. I never saw any nanners on the #1 and #2 plants outside but I found a small amount of seeds in the #2 and less in the #1 when trimming. All the A11 phenos were more stable in that regard and I was very impressed with the bag appeal of those phenos although I really liked the lemon citrus smell of the LD leaning phenos. I ended up keeping the #1, #5, and #7 phenos to run again. I got spider mites towards week 7 and 8 of flowering indoors so I ran them as long as I could before harvesting, right around 8 weeks. Normally I go at least 9 weeks though so I didn't like chopping them early but they were ready enough. I let the outdoor plants go until the weather forecast was calling for colder and rainy weather. Preflowers starting showing around the beginning of August and flowering was really underway into the middle of August as I'm right around 39N. I took the outdoor plants down 10/15 and 10/16. I left them untopped and they got pretty tall despite going outside around the middle of July. Because I'm so confined with vertical space I pinched tops on the taller of the indoor plants (not topped, just pinched meristem) and that really put a dent in their vertical stretch. I was surprised how much so actually so their vertical height was easily controlled by doing that. None of them were finicky at all as far as feeding and watering goes too. I didn't burn any of them or get any deficiencies either. I grow in strictly organic soil though so that's probably not as much of an issue as using synthetic nutrients. Now that I have a feel for what to expect with how they grow I will veg them for just a bit longer before switching to flowering to maximize size for the finished height. Regarding finished product I'm very partial to the A11 phenos over the LD phenos, despite my love for lemon tasting and smelling herb. That citrusness didn't translate over to the A11 ones. I always have a difficult time describing smells and tastes so I like to bounce descriptions off several close friends to get a consensus. I haven't had a chance to have a taste session with several people at the same time yet either to get a general feel for everything. The high though is very clear headed and uplifting. Very nice! In summation I would keep an eye out for the taller phenos as they are most likely the LD leaners and will be prone to hermi issues (in my experience at least).
