Menage a Trois Grow Notes

Menage a Trois is an almost pure indica bred by MOD using a BCBD Godbud male with his Dreamweaver clone creating Dreamgoddess, this 2nd release was called Menage a Trois due to accidental sativa pollen contamination. I do not believe this has sativa in it.

She's a vigorous, potent, hash making plant that I will never get rid of.

I received this strain as a freebie from seedbay in the fall of 2007. I ended up with a male and this lovely female. Not knowing any better the male was destroyed leaving this unknown free female as 2nd priority to other seeds and projects I was working on. I had my plants in a very cold(40F) attic while I was finishing the basement. They had a mock-rig setup, not ideal but I had to do it. When that week was over she was the star of the show. She was coated with resin at day 25 of 12/12. The others were mearly average. She displayed great vigor and the visual appeal was more than I could ask for.

Veg

Very slow grower until established. Shows preflowers in the first month. Short wide leafs. Branches up and down every 1/4-1/2". Slow cloner, fastest root time would be 12 days. After a month of growth and the roots have expanded to their pot, she becomes a great MOM and grows very fast. The key to this plant, from my clone trials is to veg her an extra few weeks or more. She doesn't stretch much when the lights get turned 12/12.
________________________________________________________________
Flower

The structure of Menage a Trois naturally leans this plant to some LST, SCROG, or Supercroping. I have grown some single cola types that had larger calyxes but the overall yield was not there. I trim the lower 1/4 branches but still get a lot of popcorn buds that are amazing for hash or cooking.

She is naturally pest resistant in flower!! Gnats that touch her, get stuck and die, which sucks because I have sticky traps for this. Mites also want nothing to do with her when there's resin around.

When temperatures are high(80s day 70s night) she is not as leafy but dense. I wonder if this has to do with the plants low metabolism due to cold?

The odors are not overpowering or putrid. A carbon scubber is still required. I which I had another.

From clone, first few weeks of flower there is not a lot of stretch upwards but lots of side branches and budspots appear.

By the 3rd week of flowering you will notice a large formation of trics.

By the 5th week, trics are doubled and first pistols begin to wither, all possible budsites are formed.

At the 7th week, they have most of their size and clear-cloudy trics, a little purple should show regardless of temps. I start flushing around now.

At the 9th week, they may look done but they need another week to get purple, with the help of cool temps. Mostly cloudy trics, some amber. New dead fan leafs daily.

Depending on your preference, after the 9th week is good time to harvest.

pictures say way more than i possibly can. sorry to those with slow connections, if i can edit this, i'll change to thumbnails, or thin it out......

Congrats on photo of the month. On the purple bean picture, was there purple lighting involved or are they really that purple?

Beautiful work man!! Just beautiful!! I hope that someday I will be able to grow like this...

The color of the pistils in the outdoor is very cool... I have some chemdog that is showing violet - but ONLY near the uvb cfl's. I am wondering if you live in a region that has high levels of uvb?

Anyway, outstanding show! I will be lookin in on your journals!!
