Northern Lights x Shiva Grow Notes
I absolutely love this plant! Found her in 2009, although the pack received was stamped with Sep. 2007 on the back. Lost the seed mother in 2011, but still have her around in clone form. This specific phenotype is thickly coated in resin, stretches about 3x, and the leaves turn burgundy, purple, and black during flush. She's rather pungent in smell, especially considering it's a Northern Light hybrid, and even has a prominent stank in vegetative state. The smell from beginning of flower to about 3-4 weeks in is a very sweet, skunk funk. At about mid-flower, that's when the fresh cracked black peppercorn smell takes over. Undisturbed, it smells like black pepper. Rubbing a stem or a trim leaf however, releases the skunk smell, but the black pepper is still there. 75 days (give or take a few) seems to be the best time to harvest, with about 10-15% amber trichomes. This plant is best cured for a minimum of 2 months. After about 2-3 weeks, the buds in the jars develop an almost over powering "new rubber tire" smell, to the point of making your stomach turn. After a while though, the rubber smell fades into a sweet, hash smell. The taste is really nice. 3 words describe it best, "sweet, mentholated hash", with the sweet hash being the most prominent flavor. It also has a not-so-minor secondary menthol taste, apparent on the exhale. Old-school, awesome taste. The smoke is very smooth, but very expansive in the lungs. Can cause coughing fits. Yeild is very high, pest and mold resistance is great, and she clones and grows very easily. This pheno of this hybrid seems to prefer more magnesium than normal though, so keep some Epsom on hand. Everyone that I know loves this plant, and for good reason. Nirvana discontinued this strain, so if you have it, grow it and make seeds. Wish I saved a male, but oh well. ManyCloudsOfSmoke.

Hey, Buddle! Thanks for the kind words! I received the pack of NLxShiva in 2009, but the pack I received was stamped with Sept. 2007 on the back. I don't know if the stamp was put on by Nirvana or SeedBoutique. BTW, thank you for the nice comments about a couple of my pics. I tried responding, but I can't due to me being too new a member, and not having the privileges. Just wanted to let you know. Thanks again!

Lovely grow and fantastic report. Do you remember what year you bought these beans? Nirvana is so underrated.I got a gorgeous Blue Mystic yrs back and the Bubbalicious beans i grew were very similar to a gorgeous BG clone thats been held onto by some fellow growers for yrs.

Hello, jump /injack! Thank you for the kind words! Mr. Nice did indeed offer this hybrid at one point, but I recently went through their inventory looking for it, and I think it's been discontinued. Very unfortunate. Thanks again for looking!
