| Shaman Grow Notes |
Shaman from Dutch Passion was my second grow (ever). I felt a little more confident than last year (GSH Kalashnikova) and decided to try a sativa dominant hybrid. I had heard good things about Shaman on a local cannabis forum, and purple flower color had seemed attractive.
I germinated 3 regular seeds on 04-27-2012. Germination rate was 100%. Germinated seedlings were planted directly into 30 liter (7.9 gallon) flower pots and placed outdoors on a balcony where plants received 7-8 hours of direct sunlight daily throughout the entire grow. Approximate geographic location was 46° N, 14° E. Climate there is temperate continental with occasional interaction of alpine climate. All three seedlings grew vigorously and without any problems. During the first half of vegetative stage plant #2 began exhibiting clear sativa characteristics, while plants #1 and #3 leaned slighting more to the indica outlook (short, bushy). Later all three plants evened out.
All plants began flowering around 07-24-2012. It turned out that #3 was a male, which I separated from the girls and kept him alive long enough to develop some pollen. I pollinated both female plants — one flower from a lower branch on each plant. Plant #1 began showing purple color quite early in flowering stage, while #2 remained green. Until the last two weeks of flowering plants didn't have any distinctive odor. I had to (literally) stick my nose into the flower to detect odor. Even during the last 2 weeks of flowering the odor management wasn't a problem, which was a big bonus due to the nature of my grow operation. Plant #2 decided it would look cool after all if she donned some purple, but she didn't get as half as purple as #1.
Plant #1 had some problems with aphids, but ladybugs took care of it; #2 however remained resistant.
Overall, Shaman is a good strain, well-suited for outdoor growing in the northern hemisphere. I suspect it would do even better in larger pots, or planted directly into garden soil where it could develop bigger root system and increase its yield. In my opinion, Shaman isn't a commercial strain because the plant is not a top yielder, but for a sativa the yield is not bad at all — I see it more like a connoisseur strain with beautiful flower colors, fresh, sweet, and spicy aroma, and a classic sativa head high. I will definitely grow Shaman again. |

Makes for decent smoke.

I have been growing Shaman for years, its one of the easyest outdoor strains, it finishes very quickly, its very mold resistent, it has a sativa high and some phenos have a wonderful sweet smeel (which is not the case with many other purple strains), great daytime smoke
I also can recomend it to anyone.
nice plants btw ;)
enjoy the smoke
