Really impressive! I picked up this strain at the advice of a few old hippies who were wondering if this smoke was the prize they remembered from the good old days or if they just had low standards back then. From what I gathered this was supposed to be a mellow Thai/Columbian cross, nothing crazy or mind blowing. It was grown during a very damp summer, entirely outdoors. They grew to about 100 to 120 cm tall with long gaps between the branches and only put on buds along the main stem with a fat cola on top. I blame the sudden shift in temperature during flowering season and the Northwest Coast weather for its low bud and resin production but its beautiful purple colors gave it some real appeal to the eyes. I was getting on average only an ounce per plant of dried bud which at the time of harvest gave off a fruity soap-like smell and one plant giving off a faint grape skunk scent. In all fairness I did chop them after only about 9 weeks of flowering so I didn't see their proper potential. The drying took longer than even my fattest buds and I left it to cure for about two months. After the cure the buds gave off almost no smell and only something like dried grass or even a hay like scent.
I have never come across such a beautiful smoke, however. The old hippies who recommended it sat back with huge grins on their faces and assured me this was the strain they remembered. The pot burned much like a cigar and even dropped ash in big chunks. The smoke was thick and rich, it even caused the oldtimers to cough a little as well. I couldn't place the taste right away but after a couple of doobies we identified it as having a hint of cherry pipe tobacco hidden in there. The buzz wasn't instantaneous. It started as a warm massaging sensation around the neck and shoulders which quickly transformed into a mellow head high and then expanded to the whole body after a further half an hour. It was pleasant and made all of us feel happier. The buzz carried on for barely a few minutes and then died out only to creep up on us again after a further 15 or 20 minutes. I managed to sit through 2 Pearl Jam DVDs before it started to wear off, no come down at all. It was so much better than I anticipated. It didn't take a lot of bud to feel the magic and it was unlike anything I'd tried previously. I plan to grow this one again but indoors to allow to a full flowering period. I regret not taking photos, at harvest time it didn't seem impressive enough to bother with it plus I was up to my neck in plants. I'm kicking myself now. I have started re vegging and the plants have branched out like crazy under the artificial light. On behalf of myself and a couple of giggling toothless hippies, thank you so much for this strain! In a word, "BEAUTIFUL".
Thanks guys, I've given the two best mothers ample time to vegetate again and have cut two dozen clones from them. Hopefully in about three months I can update you with some healthy bud shots.
