| Northern Dreams Grow Notes |
|
I test grew this strain for the new breeder Reservation Labs. This guy has some amazing gear to get to the masses and I am damn proud to have them in my garden. The Northern Dreams from what I can tell is one of his flagship strains. It's a hybrid of Northern Lights #2 and a secret strain from mendocino county, CA (can't be divulged).
This strain grows very quick in veg, and very uniform. Nice indica looking growth structure but somewhat stretchier. Some stems express some purple color. Once they get a foothold they explode. They grew faster on average than any other strain in my garden except one, getting tall and branchy. I recommend topping or supercropping for best effect with these guys.
Good female to male ration as well. 6/10 were girls. However it must be noted that when growing the Northern Dreams IBL, the female to male ration was higher, achieving 80% female rate.
In flowering they doubled in height fairly uniformly among all the plants. They were stinkers from the start of flowering, with scents ranging from sweet hashy to full on sour fuelish funk. Started packing on trichs very early in the cycle as well. Buds grew long and slender like spears, some fattening up more than others. Bud density varied from plant to plant, but was always fair, and usually quite good. Some of the plants even have the characteristic of turning purple, and in my opinion, those produced the better smelling/tasting buds of the group. However, that trait has been all but removed in the IBL. If you want that purple trait, you need either the original Northern Dreams, or the new strain Day of the Dead which is the isolated purple Northern Dreams phenotype.
The smoke is very pleasant. One of the smoothest herbs from my garden this year. Never chokes me but always hits me hard. Flavor is mildly sweet/sour and with a very distinct hashy bite. The aftertaste is a very herby, natural flavor. It comes on quick and hits pretty hard, about half way through the bowl you notice it. Very stony and lazy, yet somewhat cerebral. Easy to overdo it on this strain, smoking too much gives me a headache. It is very good for pain relief and sleep aid.
Overall I score this strain an 8/10 for its yield, quality, and joy of growing. Would not recommend for beginner growers or smokers, best grown with good knowledge of training techniques and is kinda finicky with nutrients, but the result is some very tasty, VERY potent smoke thats gonna stick with you a while  |

| Comment Posted by: weedislove on 08-02-2011 at 22:31 | | Looks nice. I recently just got 5 free seeds of this when I ordered SD IBL from gypsy. I did a little research on northern dreams and turns out it is Northern lights x alaskan TF, and then back crossed with northern lights again, to basically give you 3/4 northern and 1/4 alaskan tf. I plan to post as I grow it, thanks for the pics and info! | | Comment Posted by: Arthur Dent. on 04-06-2011 at 10:19 | | Looks a little sativa Dominant but the buds show indica traits,
Looks lovely would love to try it out.
