| Pure/Purple Power Plant Grow Notes |
|
This was from a freebie pack of seeds I got from Dr. Chronic in 2005. I had tried to germ all these expensive seeds I had bought, and lo and behold, it was the PPP that popped the quickest. Ten seedings were grown under CFL's for a few months, the males and weak plants were culled, and we were left with two outstanding female phenos, named #1 and #2. We though long and hard about those names!
Anyways, #1 is a powerhouse, giving a trippy, sativa like high, but with some indica underneath, which helps take the edge off a little bit, and slows you down enough to not get yourself into to much trouble. Taste and smell are very sweet, but not sickly, with a great spicy pepper element to it that sativas sometimes have. There is a little sliver of pine in there, but it's very subtle. Rock hard nugs when cured right, and smoke beautifully. It clones very easily, and grows fast, medium sized, very, very branches and excellent for cloning. This plant has me seriously considering selling medical clones, as a mother in a 5 gallon will give 20-30 clones per week easily. In mid/late flower, the buds start to turn these beautiful shades of purple and pink/magenta, which fade to darker purple upon curing. The branching lends itself to LST, and I literally had 12-15 colas average per plant. They were in 5 gallon smart pots and finished about 3' on average. The yields could have been better, but we were still dialing it in. We should expect about 2-3 ounces per 3 gallon smart pot, 4 ozs in a 5 gallon. Day or night this smoke is great. Smoke less during the day, using a vape or joint to stay awake and busy. Smoke more at night and you'll eventually crash into a peaceful sleep. Very mellow comedown, very gentle.
Pheno #2 was great as well, but unfortunately it clones poorly and we lost it. Really it was more stoner neglect than anything, as we did clone it, it just took more effort and time. It was taller, yielded lighter, way sensitive to everything. Kind of a diva, if you ask me. Awesome flavor though, and the buzz was really nice, mellow yet stimulating, but a bit racier than #1, and not so great for nighttime. It was good, but all around #1 took the cake. These are still available cheap. I think with any seeds, you need at least 30 to really give the strain a fair shot, and to find a winner. I got lucky and found mine in 10, but then again, there could be something better. This smoke is just very different from what we usually see out there. Even people who are casual tokers notice the difference right away. This pheno has kind of an "old school" flavor and buzz, but with a modern twist. It's a keeper for sure.
