First legal run (150w HPS/ Barney's Pineapple Express Auto and Easy Ryder Auto
Bought a bunch of random genetics on black Friday after absolutely no research, just picked what sounded decent, haven't been at it for a while at this point so I figured I'd just wing the first round.
1/2 9AM: Started 1 Pineapple Express auto seed and 1 Easy Ryder Auto in cup of water 1/3 9AM: After 24 hour soak in tap water (that had been sitting out for a while to get rid of some of the chlorine, no ph test yet) I plugged a couple rapid rooter type things I bought from the local hydro that had been pretreated with root stuff etc and PH balanced. Put these both in a seedling tray with a bit of standing water in it, the rooters seem to be wicking a decent amount of moisture but aren't soaked. 1/3 10AM: Put the dome up over the top to help with RH, put under 150w HPS lamp at ~14". Checked temp with hand and maybe +5 degrees above room temp of 70. Thermometer on the way, for now just making sure they don't get fried. Will update when they break ground. This will probably be pretty boring, but feel free to tag along if you feel the need. For now burn some more of the wedding cake I had from a friends previous run. ![]() -IS- |

Finally got to 50 posts so now I can edit:
Current Setup: Tent: Apollo Hort. 3x3x6 Light: Roleadro 4x200w Cob LED Pulling ~385 From the wall -currently at ~15" Fan: Vivosun 6" 454cfm inline exhaust fan Carbon Filter: Vivosun 6" carbon filter w/prefilter Humidifier:Taotronics 5L cool mist with hydrometer Genetics:currently 2 autos, pineapple express and easy rider. 3 photo seedlings white widow, sweet tooth and one bad azz kush from barnies Medium:Botanicare Coco/perlite 75/25 pre-charged with calmag Nutrients:Canna a+b, calmag Feeding schedule:Roughly 1/2 canna's schedule +2-3ml of calmag /gallon Current Status (1/12): Two auto seedlings growing in about 1.5 gallon of medium each, both on third set of leaf production, hopefully producing roots, but too much volume in the pots has slowed these down I believe, also did not completely flush or charge medium. 3 Photo seedlings: about 1.5-3" tall, all throwing out their first set of fan leaves. These are in 4" square pots which I watered to ~10% runoff last night with nutes and calmag. Last edited by IndoorScore; 01-12-2017 at 05:56 PM.. |

Take your humidity dome off that seed tray. Put your tray on a seedling mat and just keep your medium moist by hand or with a spray bottle. Too lazy to site good info for you with all the hub-bub there is to sort through.

Yup. Seeds don't need domes, clones do. Usually seeds will have a hard time with over-watering in a dome, because the humidity gets close to 100% and is very slow to evaporate.

Read that from a couple seed banks in the interim so the dome is now off.
I assume as long as the medium is still moist (cake like) and you can feel some moisture its good to go? |

Cake is pretty dry. I intentionally "over-water" my cubes while still erring on the side of caution. I've only ever lost seedlings from under-watering, and from doming. Better to simply keep your pucks wet than it is to keep picking them up and weighing them, at least until you've developed a couple tap roots. I'll add a few ml of tap water every day or so just for good measure. What you might think is the "perfect" amount of moisture could easily dry out overnight.

still feel film of moisture when i poke the top of the rooter so I'll check on it when I head on to bed.
If anyone was wondering what I spent/plan on spending so far: 150w HPS $30 off CL $30 From Hydro Shop rooters $5 seedling tray and dome $10 2 bricks bio coco $8 2x 3 gal buckets and drip trays $15 PH up and down $22 4qt perlite $5 $65 On the way from Amazon: Apollo 36x36x72 tent $97 Light Hangers $8 1L each Canna A+B $34 Ph Test Kit (with Drops) $8 $147 Total So Far: $242 And in addition probably looking at: Vivosun 6" 440CFM inline for $70 iPower 6" carbon filter for $64. $134 So to complete grow: $376 And at some point: Apollo 600w MH/HPS Dimmable with air-cooled hood: $170 although won't need it to finish these guys up if I don't get there in time. All in all a pretty decent looking tent for $546 and a timer |

I would highly suggest throwing another $50 at a temp/humidity logger and $20 at an IR thermometer. If you can track the trends and get your temps and humidity dialed to your strain, things will be anything but "boring". If you can't accurately measure temps and humidity, you're flying blind. Not saying it can't be done, but it's nice to know what went wrong, when something goes wrong.
Loving my new sensorpush(es). I also don't see any oscillating fans, or floor fans in your budget. Gonna need those. |

Yupp.
Two honeywell turbo force I already have, as well as a temp/humid gauge with a probe and 24 hour memory that was gifted to me. Should have mentioned those to begin with but they were of no cost so I forgot, thanks. You having good luck with those? I love the idea but wonder how long it actually lasts without a charge and if it's glitchy at all. Would love to be able to automatically save data ect. |

Yeah, they're great. All three of mine came calibrated within a tenth of a degree of each other. I get updates every minute on my ipad via bluetooth from the basement all the way up to the third floor. The unit runs off a single triple A battery which is supposed to last at least 6 months, if I am remembering the literature correctly.
