Barney's Farm - Germination issues

Just wondering whether anyone else has germination issues with Barney's Farm seeds?
Fortunately, mine were freebies, but a germination rate of zero from 6 seeds is just poor. The one that actually popped a tap root soon died, leaving me very grateful I hadn't actually paid for them.
I have, once, had success with some of their stock (LSD) and it was quite good weed, a half decent yielder but given the length of time that it took to finish (3 weeks above the stated breeders time) not worth doing again.
Are they just another breeder who pays for good PR (Cannabis Cup winners as they sponsor the event and the suchlike), or have I just been unlucky? With the plethora of quality breeders out there, obviously there is no real need to use them and I certainly won't be using them while the likes of Ace seeds are still producing such quality.

I'd like to share my experience with BF seeds. I grew out a pack (2011) of 5 fem violator kush and ended up with 1 plant. This plant is in the top 3 plants I've grown over my career. It was super strong couchlock, so strong I had could really feel it the morning after...and the smell!! she reeked of poo, i swear, it was rank! really violated your nose. Good plant structure to, chunky roundish kush style buds, not much leaf...still regret not keeping her, in fact she was a bit a runt in veg i nearly pulled her! So after this experience I bought some more genetics from BF- more violator kush, vanilla kush, tangerine dream and pineapple chunk. I had 5 fem pack of each and ended up with 2 van kush, 1 TD and 2 pineapple chunk and 1 violator kush. None were any good, nothing worth keeping.

Baron, I had 2 of the barney's peppermint kush, the both germ, but died off due to damp off. I order the seeds last Christmas and tried germinating them in july

do any of the seed retailers actually show their seed storage area?

as consumers, we like to think that they've got refrigeration, but heck.. mostly they're in the u.k., so they probably just keep seeds on shelves bcs it's so bloody cold there already..

Often wondered about this too. Id like to think theyre stored in a fridge. The overhead for a distributor has got to be very low. A fridge or two, a desk, a computer and a few cases of envelopes...

Well, it's not the most ringing endorsement for them then. I don't think I'll try any more.
It is an interesting question about seed storage, if stored correctly (and I'm thinking the seed bank at Kew Gardens for example) seeds should remain viable for a long period of time. Is their turnover such that storage facilities can be skimped on or do we just get sent out packs of duds from time to time?
It's not that cold in the UK, sometimes there's even sunshine

I've ran about 4 or 5 different strains from BF, many multiple times, never had a problem germing any of the packs, all have been very good. Maybe you just had bad luck

went through a pack of pineapple punch a while back.. I think they all sprouted.. .kept the best one for a couple of runs then d/c... It was good but not the best Ive had.. If was more impressed would have tried more of his strains but have read he was just another "pollen chucker",,I didnt say it.. no offense to any fans. Found his pineapple good ,. just not extraordinary... moved on to other projects..

Just got an LSD fem for a freebie. In she went, the root popped out looking like it had a fork in it, 2 small tap roots from the main one.
Into the same medium as everything else, I wonder if anyone would like to hazard a guess at the result?
Even as freebies I don't want any part of them. Poor, poor effort.

i grew barneys stuff allot of times and i never had any trouble and im planning on purchasing more in the near future as they were one of the best companys i have used.

i pop beans all the time and rarely use clones. i have a high success rate in popping seeds until recently. 15 royal queen seeds died well 3 survived. i didnt blame anyone it was my fault damping off.

most of the time its the growers problems not the seed company but some growers cant see the faults they make and just blame every one else.
