Cannacopia Seeds Test Grow - Lapis Mountain Indica

First of I would like to thank DG for allowing me to test one of Cannacopia's very interesting strains. And thanks to Cannacopia for supplying them. I did not request any strain, but this is probably the one I would purchase. Needless to say I am very pleased. DG must have been reading my mind.

Description:
Lapis Mountain Indica
This is a hybrid of two pure Afghan populations. The ‘Pure Afghan’ seeds were obtained by a private contractor while doing soils research in Afghanistan. The seeds were collected directly from a hashish farmer, and smuggled back for us to look through. We found the plants to be relatively stable, but we wanted a slightly earlier selection so we crossed the best females with our select Deep Chunk pollen, to add some genetic diversity and western improved characteristics, all the while keeping the line true to its afghan heritage. The flavour from these plants is unmistakably classic Afghan, with a slightly increased yield over the ‘Pure Afghan’ inbred line. Our selected mothers produced some of the nicest black hashish we’ve ever made, reminiscent of the finest Afghani black hash of the early 70’s. When asked about the specific region, all our friend could tell us that the seeds came from a small village close to what his company deemed the largest untapped Lapis deposit in the country, thus the name Lapis Mountain Indica. Yield is average (300-400 g/ sq m).

Indoor flowering: 8-9 Weeks

Interesting that Lapis Lazuli has been mined in Afghanistan for many centuries and they have discovered an untapped deposit in the country, which makes it hard to determine which area the seeds originated from. They say it is an inbred line, and teaming that up with another IBL Deep Chunk should make this a very interesting strain with many possibilities.

The plan for this grow will be to start them in 1 1/2 qt pots for 17 days under floro's, then transplant up to 2 gallon pots, and move them under a 1kw MH blue bulb for veg, then the females up to 5 gallon pots just before final flower under 1kw HPS Hortilux. They will be grown in organic soil with organic nutrients.

I will probably take a lower branch cuttings in veg to determine sex of each plant prior to flower, but I have no plans on keeping these testers as mothers for future grows. The test will be to see how well these plants respond to the optimal conditions I will supply from seed to flower.

I will keep the females seedless, but I might collect pollen from the males though if they are deemed worthy of using with some other plants I will be working with.

Germination sometime in the next day or two.

I can't wait to see this strain, it sounds like a great hybrid. It should breathe some vigor into the DC line without polluting the afghan lineage. I bet there's some amazing resin covered plants to be found in this cross or the next generation. Good luck!

Yes DG, I am very pleased, and while on that subject, I would just like to say that Seedbay is without question extremely reliable, and a pleasure to due business with. I absolutley love the service and the people who run it.

I recieved the seeds Monday afternoon, and purchased supplies today, so I started the seeds soaking tonight and will germinate directly in soil as usual.

This winters grows are officially underway.

The Lapis Mountain Indica seeds were place into the 1 1/2 quart containers, with a mixture of EB Stone Organic Potting Soil (80%), and Perlite (20%) today after a 12 hr soak. All seeds appeared to be in good condition and sunk to the bottom of the glass. I will update when they start hitting the surface.

Checked the pots today, and 9 out of 10 have broke the surface. One lone holdout right now, but 90% germination in less than 3 days. Not bad, and they came out clean with no help required, a good sign.

Photo's will be soon. Trying to coax that last one to come up now.

CF1

Correction, just checked again and it looks like the 10th one is just below the surface and lifting the soil right now, so by tonight all 10 look like they will be up.
