Germination Began - 9/13/08
Sprouted - 9/17/08 First Real Leaves - 9/20/08 Today - 9/21/08 Are they 8 days old, 4 days old, or 1 day old? I know it's not a huge difference, but I'd be curious to what everyone thinks. |

So I've been thinking of how I'm going to change my flowering around so that I can grow lots of smaller plants, instead of a few big ones. I think I've found my answer.
I love coco, and it's all I want to grow in. To have more plants, I need smaller container. Coco dries out fast. There's the problem. I solved that problem by using hempy buckets. But when you make the container even smaller, even a hempy bucket with a built in mini res is going to dry up quickly. Here's the next step... I am not claiming to invent this, but I don't think I've seen any growers using a setup like this. I don't care about credit, this is just something I'm going to be doing. Call it what you want, I don't need to name it. The first picture is my drawn plans. You can see the basic idea. I'm going to see what I can put together tomorrow using 20oz and 3 liter bottles and different sized containers. I'll see what I can fit in the bottom of one of the kitty litter buckets that I'm using now. Anyways... 4-6 20oz coco hempy buckets, along with a 3 liter reservoir. The way the reservoir works is a hole is cut into the bottom, and the top of the hole is where you want the top of your reservoir. I just cut this one liter bottle somewhere you could see it on the tupperware, just a proof of concept kind of thing. It works great. So after you cut the hole in the bottle to whatever level you want (I'm using 1.5") you seal the drain hole and fill the bottle up. Screw the cap on, set it in the container, and it will drain until the water level is at the top of the hole in the bottle. I think this, combined with the hempy bucket type containers, will make growing as easy as possible. One modification though is instead of having the hole on the hempy buckets at the top of where you want water to be, I'll have to put them at the bottom so they can take full use of the reservoir. Also, after thinking about it, I think I'll put an extra 1/2" of perlite in, to act as a sort of buffer between the top of the res and the bottom of the coco. Don't want things getting soggy! I can't wait to get this set up, should work great!

I'd say they're on day 1-2 of vegetative, after going through a week in the germination stage.
Anyway you wanna put it, they're lookin' great! |
