Damn Ants! How to Treat???

Forgot...I've had ants in the growroom for awhile here...they come in in these parts at this time of yr to avoid the cold. anyway, I put these lame 'ant killer traps' down, they look like metal spikes kinda?..anyway, that was like a mos. ago and it didn't help at all. But since they weren't bothering me, i didn't think too much of it.................Well shitola!

Last night I found 2 plants both w/ a solid line of ants crawling up the trunks way up into the trees!!!
I had a little mite insecticide spray that I used on the large parts as best as I could...but they also were under the white poly plastic covering the buckets! SO, I have to go out and get WHAT?? to treat these bastards??? Got till lights on tonight to get something...so any fast responders will be even greater help!

Thanks guys!

I don't think ants are your only problem, Greenja. I think you better check your plants for aphids. Aphids would be the only reason ants would congregate on your plants.

Lowe's has some new badass ant traps--I forget the manufacturer---that really work for ants. Like $8.97 or something. Neem oil worked well for me for aphids in veg, but don't use it in flowering.

Hope you get your problem solved.

i'll look for aphids real close thx man....I luckily found the source. i had about a ft. of leaf, pine needle and other crap piled up along the building....damn winter!hehe
cleaned it out and got rid of colony I think. put several ant killers in those metal spikes outside and inside, and along w/ the sprayed insecticide on trunk lastnight to kill those. I'm pretty sure I got the problem whipped.

I have heard that using marigold powder is a pretty good ant deterrent...just sprinkle it around where ants occur. You don't have to worry about toxins and stuff. Those ants spikes that you mentioned work pretty good as well...

you might want to consider applying diatomacious earth. it's abrasive surface cut into the exoskeleton of the pests and causes them to dessicate. (dry out)

Hi greenja...

As posted earlier ant's are not a problem but they carry other bug's that are like aphids and mites.

Since you already treated the problem outdoors then your problems are 1/2 over keep a close eye for other bug's now.

See ya...

diatomacious earth

Had ant problems myself, this is an all organic pest control. Kills em straight up, but you have to apply every day for about a week or two.

Go to pool cleaning, or an aquarium company for it. Great stuff!
