Mossys Jem
Hello everyone,
After discovering that Mossys Jem is available from Crazy X seeds I started my quest to get some. It didn't take long for the package to appear and my adventure to begin. I started fifteen this morning and am looking forward to the grow. I have grown Lowryder#1, Sensi's Ruderalis Indica as well as some Master Low crosses, it will be interesting to see how this auto does compared to the others. Also a huge thanks you to Matt for helping me get this project off the ground. |

Nice 1 expertsetup,i hope you get good results from them and a 20/4 from start to finish works fairly well.
Did you get any auto-flowerer's in the ruderalis indica ?

Hi marijuanamat,
None of my Rudy Indo's auto flowered but some crosses I did with them do auto around thirty to fourty days. The Rudy Indo had great resin coverage and the high was a good quality. Even with the good resin fast flowering and good high I won't run the Rudy Indo again without a mold resistant cross as they were incredible powdery mildew magnets. I have a male cutting that I might use to seed my Black Domina as well as some UV3 I am running this year that is quite purple. As for the fifteen Jem's I started yesterday, five of the fifteen have sprouted in less than 24hrs and I assume the rest are not far behind. |

Good Luck with them Expertsetup.
I am excited to watch. ![]() are you setting them away in the gel how long do you leave them in there after they germ..? I haven't seen them started in the gel before. I had my lights on the 18/6 and I was pleased with what I got.. but Micro grew his on 20/4 and he out grew me. He was hydro and I think all LR crosses grow best in hydro. They are greedy for root room. Last edited by mossy; 08-21-2008 at 05:03 PM.. |

Hi Mossy, thanks for stopping in.
It's a glare on some moist paper towel that makes it look like the gel, I pour the excess water off so it's a bit drier than in this pic. I let about a half inch of the tap root extend maximum, preferably shorter before I plant them in rooters. I have good luck with this method almost a 100% germination to seedling survival rate. After a set of true leaves they will get the final transplant to a container that has about two gallon capacity & set outside. I plan on giving them supplemental lighting by placing them inside under a 175MH at night and back outside in the am when I get up, about 2-3 hours of dark with this plan as well as better circulation at night when humidity here can reach punishing levels. I may leave the males in smaller containers to keep them smaller or even skip them under the lights at night which will slow them down a bit so the girls can fatten before the hanky panky. So far nine of the fifteen have sprouted so only six left to go and am I getting excited. I have two nice UV3 x Blue Moon Rocks that are about 1/2 way into flower, I might have to use any purple/red Jem males to give that cross a go, the timing is so perfect it's begging to happen. Both UV3xBMR are showing red/purple flowers and are giving a good smell. It could be that the ridiculous string of serendipitous results I keep getting may continue. Keep a good thought for me as I look for a Jem male with some color. |

Expertsetup..am I right in thinking that you germed all the JEMS you have?
I have been experimenting with the pollenation this season because I find if you pollenate the girls too quickly it stops them getting full growth. Once she is pollenated..all her thoughts and energies turn to seed. What I have been doing.. since the male comes into viable flower within 3 weeks of germination.. and the girls flower for over 3 weeks.. I have been RE-germing for the male. Giving me the extra time to let the girls get into full flower. Saving me the bother of any serious de-balling. By the time the second male comes up..the girls are gagging for it.. I am looking forward to seeing how they do on the supplemental lighting. If my season ends as suddenly and prematurely as last season I could be doing the same myself. |

Hi Mossy,
That's a good idea to do a second wave of germination, I will use the last five seeds that I have saved for that. For the males that show early I will keep them in isolation and save the pollen in the freezer for the girls once they come of age. I am excited about the cross with the UV3xBMR, so far these are the first fully colored plants I have grown from seed. It's really neat the way the color appears in the calyx clusters, it should be a great cross. One thing I really like about crossing plants with auto flower strains is how much sooner the progeny finishes. My September strains that I crossed with LR#1 males are now ready before the end of August. With the UV3xBMR looking to finish in the second week of September I would guess that the F1's with the Jem will put harvest for the plant around the end of August. Another great aspect of F1's with Auto Flower dad's is that I have been able to get them to clone and reveg. Talk to you in a bit and I will get some pics of the little kids and the UV3xBMR for you all to take a peek at. So far 11 of the fifteen have germinated and eight have actually sprouted. |

The mothers were hitting on about 7.5 weeks..so I am praying they weren't too far over. Re-germs..same pot..around 3.5 to 4 weeks Here is a JEM male for the paler/larger purple pheno. If you look in my gallery page 1 you will see the male Deep purple JEM. They are quite distinct as the deep purple colour up the flower stalk. Might help your selections. The deep purple is almost block colour but it always produces a slightly smaller mother. The Pale purple is larger and carries sunset colour. Peach and red alongside the purple. If she goes over time a bit she tends to fox-tail and gives extra weight. Last edited by mossy; 08-24-2008 at 10:31 AM.. |

AF's clone and re-veg almost as easily as long season girls But.. because the description on the Original LR says it Cannot be cloned most people do not listen. What the description should have read was.. "because of the small height and quick finishing time..it is probably not Worth your while cloning." On the new generation of AF crosses..it is worth doing. |
