Smile Master Low germination

after all that i had read, i thought these were gonna be some tough beans to crack....but no. a friend sent me 13 seeds and they all germinated within 48 hours. most within 24.

i put them in a wet paper towel tuesday and into cups filled with coco thursday. today they have all emerged from the coco. 13 out of 13.

i dont see where all the bad germ rates came from. they germinated quickly and tore away from the seed hull with no problems. in fact, they seem stronger than a lot of strains in the germination department.

in my opinion, no special measures or techniques are required. just use whatever method you have the most confidence in.

just sharing my experience,

Yeah I had a little trouble, I germed 7 in a paper towel, one I crushed when pre-cracking it though. It still threw a weird looking taproot so I planted it, 4 sprouted for me.

But once they get going, I agree they really are strong. They grow fast too, especially under HPS. If I was to change anything about the way I did it, I would of planted straight in soil and I would of used Pro-Mix BX to start them instead of the miracle grow that he recommends. And I would also have started mine in a bigger container to begin with, I used 16oz styro cups and they were probably rootbound after 11-12 days. Masterlow puts out some prolific root growth. I have 2 seeds left and the next time I start vegging plants(I only got 1 room), I hope Mdanzig has some seeds available to buy because I want to give the autoflower strains a real try, I'll pop those 2 beans and whatever he has available. I like the idea of running these while you are vegging non-AF plants for like a bumper crop as chubbynugs put it.

Glad to hear they worked great for you Bob, and wish the best for your grow with them.

Keep us all updated Bob on how they do.

Edit: That platter of sliced tomaters in your gallery look absolutely delicious pal.

thanks for the heads up about the root growth. i got them in small containers, after reading your post, i wish i had started them in the containers that i will finish them off in.

i also like the idea of having a flowering plant in the veg chamber. plus, i veg with hps... i just like being able to see a flowering plant whenever i want, lol. they are worth growing for that reason alone, imo.

i havent really grown that much mj. only a hand full of strains and less than 100 total plants in a 6 or 7 year period... but, i gotta say, ML is probably the fastest vegging plant i have grown. this is like day 9 and they are opening up with their third set of leaves.

about half of these little devils already stink. i have only experienced that one other time with a plant so young/small.

i'll post some pics when things get a little more interesting.

again, just sharing my experience.
