Soil mix
I recently ordered a 5 pack of big bang and the church. I just had a few questions about if any one has a cheap soil recipe. I will need to fill 10 5 gallon containers. And that can get kind of expensive for that much commercial soil. And also how much yield do you guys think i should expect using 2 400w hps lights. Thanks for any input.

Hi Robstar!
Nice choice Big Bang & Church! For your soil I suggest a mix that allows a lot of air to the root system and good drainage to allow you to flush easily when needed. Use at least 30% in volume of perlite or similar (vermiculite works also fine...and there are some new sponge-like materials available that work really good). For the rest, it just depends on your grow style. Some like to start with rich soil and then give less feeding, others like to start with a lighter mix and then play more with the feeding solution. Anyway, any well balanced, turf-rich 5.5 pH soil will do great. Make sure is rich in enzymes or add them yourself. Yield: expect around 1 gram per Watt of electricity used (around 800 grams total dried bud). If you achieve more, you are doing damn fine bro. keep us posted! ;-) |
