Ogre Takes Sam The Skunkman's Original Haze x Skunk#1 Outside!

Well guys I've been growing for well over a decade now and believe it or not I've never grown a single MJ plant outdoors. That all changed this year when I got my freebee 5 pack of Sam the Skunkman's Original Haze x Skunk#1. I ordered a bunch of Serious and Rez beans for a later date and I was lucky enough to get these along with some c99 x hash plant. These freebees were just laying around so I said what the hell and germed the OHxSK#1.
On April 26th 2008 my beans were prepped and the process began.
I usually get 100% germination but out of 5 beans only 2 popped. Of those two, one was a runt but I kept it anyway knowing that runts sometimes turn out to be the shits shit.
After they germed I put them under a couple of CFL lights until they were about 6" or 8" tall. Then they were transplanted and put under a 400w metal halide.
I let them grow indoors until they showed preflowers (a few weeks). The runt was a male and the other a long legged senorita. I took 5 cuttings from her and rooted them in 1" rockwool cubes then put them in dirt after they showed roots.
At this point the wife was bitching to get em outside or pull em. Well I went straight to the closet and pulled out my black pants, shirt and hoodie. Later that night I got all dressed up, got my gear and headed out into the woods.
Fast forward to today...
The momma is now around 8' tall and the cuttings that I took are about 2'.
I will post all the pics I've taken up until now (would have been sooner but ICmag uploader was down) and keep the thread updated with pics as the season progesses. Let's hope these girls see their way to harvest without any rippers or LEO finding them...we'll see.
Wish me luck on my first outdoor run.

Ok here they are under the 400w MH...doing better than expected... after all, I am a hydro guy. The closest I've come to dirt is a soiless mix of perlite and vermiculite :nono:
At this point the runt was looking good and catching up to his sister but as I later found out....he was a he and had to be taken care of. He's sleeping with da fishes!
The plants in the cups got the chop to. I've never grown bagseed...decided now isn't a good time to start.

Ok fast forward a bit. The single female and her 5 offspring cuttings have been kicked out of the house and have made their new home in an open patch of woods about 1/2 mile from my home.

Here's the single female that I took cuttings from....

and here are a couple of her baby girls...

This lil guy was lurking around so I got a shot of him when he wasn't looking.

Now we're gonna fast forward again...

Here's we are right around 2 weeks later. Looks like they may need a little bit of fertilizer soon.

These plants really blend into the woods. I actually found them by smell....man they stink!

While I'm waiting for the rest of my pics to upload I'll show you guys what I found not long ago. Most of these were found in my front yard. F*CK YEAH!!!
Nothing better than a few P. Cubensis caps, a beer and some ICmag (and some porn).

Ok we're going to fast forward one more time before we're caught up.
Pardon the bad pics. Let me give you my excuse...
It was a rainy night and I knew that you guys would be expecting updates so I grabbed the wifes scarf, put the camera in my pocket and put the joint behind my ear. I was ready...or so I thought. I had underestimated the wrath of the southern killer mosquito. As I made my way through the woods the lil bastards called out to their brothers and let them know that old Ogre had forgotten his OFF with DEET.
Holy shit what was I thinking?
Knowing how badly I would be beaten by my fellow IC members if I didn't return with pics, I decided to press on. I did battle as long as I could but it was darker than dark and I was swelling badly from the SKM bites. I got the best pics possible before making a strategic yet cowardly retreat.
These pics were taken on July 19th. They are about a week older then the last pics. The momma has grown so tall that I'm afraid she'll reach 20' or better before she's done. The tallest one is about 8' now and I had a hard time getting it into frame.

Like I said guys, I'm not new to growing but I am new to outdoor growing. Any suggestions would be great!

LOL thats a huge bitch. Just a suggestion but I say top it, maybe even cut it down to half of what it is. Who knows, puts root solution on the upper half and you may end up with two plants. At those heights I wouldn't even consider it hidden at all, so hopefully its well tucked away in the middle of nowhere and nobody ever goes near it. Good luck.

Trust me they are...
I'm a self proclaimed shroom expert. I grew them for many years and I am now fortunate enough to live in a state that has them everywhere. When I first started hunting shrooms I checked to see if they bruised blue and did spore prints and all that junk but after years of picking them you just know what to look for.

good plants ogre. my only suggestion is getting something to support that tall one. wow. some buds and a good wind and it could snap off pretty easy. it is really growing up and straight. a person could plant 20 of those all together in a small patch. that would be nice.
about those shrooms. i could find some too but they look different from area to area. is the purple spore print a sure sign of a magic mushroom? thanks little j. we got white ones here that may be magic. tall, skinny stem and little nipple at the top. i did i spore print for fun and it was purple. what do you think.

Yeah I think she'll have to be tied up. I can't wait to see how big she gets!!

P. Cubensis spores are purplish/brown. This is not a sure sign though. There are many trippy mushrooms around the US but I'm only familiar with a few (P. Cubensis being the main one).
If you want some damn good info on shrooms get this book.
"National Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Mushrooms"

It lists all of the north American shrooms (including the trippy ones). It even tells you if they are "hallucinogenic". Tells you the spore print color, spore size, shape, texture, and average size of each shroom. OH YEAH...and it lists all look-alikes!

That is if no one kidnaps her. Won't be long and she'll be overgrowing the woods that surround her.

Finally! Someone's taken the THUNK outside. I'll be around for the show. Best of luck to you man.

Thanks Murphy. I'm gonna need some luck on this one!

Not sure about that. What I am sure about is that is one big bitch you posted on page one. Is that the skunky hazes or the thai haze?

Anyone have some ideas on what fertilizer to use? I'm looking for quick and easy with minimal threat of burning or over fertilizing. I don't feel like making teas or organic blends and all that. Just something that will sustain my girls for now. I've got plenty of GH flora series and a bunch of other hydro nutes but I'm afraid to use it in dirt.
