What is EM 1 exactly ???

I made a presumptuos statement thinking it wasnt organic but maybe it is ??? Sure doesnt sound organic....

Also JK what does the recipe for the fermentation you just started look like as far as quantities....

Also once fermented plant extracts are made about how long can they stay good for later use????

Another question would be has anyone ever thought of throwing these into teas and bubbling them with food sources to multiply the microherd ????

Hey! EM is all I use. I make bokashi from Elephant poo, cow poo, and bat poo too. I make FPE and EM-5. Alternating the spraying helps keeps the mites down.

The EM brews last about a month here...but if kept cooler I think some can last 6 months...the smell will let you know if its alright. I find that bad smell = bad stuff. The bad stuff just gets tossed into the compost pile.

Looks like you found all the EM recipes. Good luck with them! jay is right about it being cheap here. I found an even cheaper store the other day. 1 litre of EM from Japan for 79 baht (about 2 usd)

These EM mixes don't need to be a part of an aerated tea. I have never felt the need to try, I do sometimes throw the bits of fermented leaves into the "water dechlorinating" tub though...no harm.

Peace

hey sophisto, EM is effective microorganisms.

heres some info on it
https://www.eminfo.info/em-origins-etc-space-1.html

i havent done any testing to see how long they last, but litterly it takes 2-3 days to make it. and you can store the dry material for quite some time. so really its pretty simple and can be made all year around. i use the fpe's as fresh as possible.

i have not tried adding some to teas, but i did add nettle fpe and yarrow fpe to my bio cultivator. no bad effects.

TP!!!!!! good to see ya man! 2 bucks HOLY CRAP..... i hate you lol. 48$ mark up here, 50$ plus tax?!?!?!?!!?!

Awesome thanks brother......I have never been more inspired in my short time of growing organically as I am now.....And there has been alot of inspiring moments along the way...

definitely gonna be fiddling with the FPE's and EM's for a while in controlled experiments until I get it dialed in....MAy take a while but I have the rest of my life to practice.........TFC ( too f-ing cool)

By the way I remember a thread a while back that was all about DIY enzymes.....I was talking with a buddy of mine today that has been growing practically his whole life and so did his father...HE's 50 so he's got like 3 generations of knowledge....I never thought to ask him about FPE's and such because I didnt know about them until JK dropped the info in my lap....Anyways he was telling me that almost all enzymes are derived from pineapple, carrots and papaya.....

Anyone have any thoughts on this and what he is telling me ???? IF it's true then couldnt we make FPE"s of these elements to reep the benefits of enzymes????

Hey JK, I can't believe that EM is 50 USD!! That is truly insane! I think it cost about 12 bucks to send it from here to there...

I put all kinds of pineapple peels and waste in my compost. I tired to make an FPE using only pineapple (+em water and molasses). I don't know what happened but the plastic bottle exploded! Pineapple with EM needs to be watched carefully!! I brew in old 2 litre milk jugs. I usually let the gas out once a day for FPE and EM-5. The pineapple brew ripped the jug apart at the seams in less than a day!!

I am glad that you have the space to conduct controlled experiments! I hope you'll keep us updated.

We better keep this quite guys some one might just want to make a pineapple bomb.... LOL

As you have just warned me of the potential hazards, I am thinking of getting some sturdy containers with screw on lids. I would fit the lid with some sort of bleeder valve that would be able to let pressure escape as it built up.....I am sure it can be done with a little tinkering.....

Yeh and in terms of space I feel very lucky....It kinda fell into my lap so to speak.. There will be a nice small bench full of a few of these containers and some notes being taken on the ladies who get these homemade concoctions.

So what have you used so far in terms of FPE's and such thaiphoon?? And what do you feel your dosages have been in terms of finished product-water ratios???

For my FPE's I just stick to the standard recipe. I use whatever plants I have around me. Mostly neem leaves sometimes seeds, morning glory, different herbs, a lot of different flowers, I have a noni tree so I've used some noni fruit, mango, custard apples, passion flowers / leaves...I live in the tropics, therefore many awesome tropical plants to play with. I spray everyother day at about 1:500 ratio. I use the neem FPE and EM5 alternating everyother day in my ongoing battle against spider mites. I spray this stuff in flower as well, It doesn't seem to affect anything...Others warn against spraying in flower, you need to be careful if using on an indoor garden.
