stealth windosill grows?
If this has been talked about, then perhaps someone could point me to a thread. I almost think this could be an entire forum. I can imagine growboxes that use natural light from a window. The trick is to never let so much as a shadow or silhouette of the plant to be visible from outside.
We could call it "energy smart grows" Of course, if all you have is a north-facing window then you are pretty much fucked and can't join the fun. I would like to have/find discussion of opaque films and fabrics. One-way glass: Can it be rigged or the effect replicated to transmit more than like 10% of the light? Heliostat mirrors would also be relevant to this topic.

or just find a window no one can see
I did have a bathroom window with some cheap plastic film on it the defused the light enough to really blur your naked body, or plant. Plant got nice and bushy. |

I have a friend that is utilizing this technique in a 2nd story apmnt. He's currently flowering four 2+ ft tall ladies in a south facing window.
He is using the primitive 'closet' method to induce flowering. As close to every 12hrs as he can manage in/out they go. As you probably thought, this method leaves more than a little room for error.. He just finished one about a month ago that was extremely dissapointing. Barely gave him a quarter, & it was the same bagseed strain that gave me 4 z's from 4 plants w/ an inside cfl veg & a spring flower outdoors starting Apr 15th. I do think the idea is a good one though, especially for off season grows. My buddies south facing window actually gets more direct light come winter. I also think some sort of box around the window would really help growth due to reflected light . As long as heat can be controlled I think a reflective box around a window would work very well. As for the type of glass, any normal greenhouse typw would do the job. But I'd say only if neccesary, as it will block lumens. |

HERE is probably the best window grow I have seen to date. It might be an interesting sub-forum.

I read a grow once where the guy grew a plant in a big plastic barrel, situated on a deck.

My neighbor has an addition on his house that looks like a solarium or an painter's attic. It's a single room built above the second floor and has large windows on all four walls. It would be hard to relax with a grow in there. Maybe bamboo blinds (the kind that don't really block light) or hanging beads in the windows? A nosy neighbor with a telescope could find out pretty easy. Before anybody asks, I don't have a telescope.
