Medical Marijuana Bill in Iowa US
From Norml
Take Action Now! https://capwiz.com/norml2/issues/aler...898581&type=ST Dear Friends: NORML is pleased to announce that Senate File 64, a bill to legally protect medical marijuana patients, has been introduced in the Iowa Senate. Now is the time to contact your state Senator and urge him or her to support this important legislation. The use of marijuana as medicine is a public health issue; it should not be part of the war on drugs. Modern science suggests that cannabis is a valuable aid in the treatment of a wide range of clinical applications. These include pain relief, particularly of neuropathic pain (pain from nerve damage); nausea; spasticity; glaucoma; and movement disorders. Marijuana is also a powerful appetite stimulant, specifically for patients suffering from HIV, the AIDS wasting syndrome, or dementia. Emerging research suggests that marijuana's medicinal properties may protect the body against some types of malignant tumors and are neuroprotective. According to a recent national survey of U.S. physicians conducted for the American Society of Addiction Medicine, nearly half of all doctors with opinions support legalizing marijuana as a medicine. Locally, Iowa has long recognized marijuana's therapeutic value - even going so far as to reclassify cannabis as a Schedule II drug under statutory law when it is used medicinally. Unfortunately, while this longstanding legal change properly acknowledges marijuana's medical efficacy, it fails to protect Iowa's seriously ill patients from arrest or prosecution. Fortunately, the passage of SF 64 will correct this injustice. This bill will help to ensure that medical marijuana patients in Iowa will no longer have to fear arrest or prosecution from state law enforcement. However, the bill will only receive serious consideration if Iowa's elected officials hear an unmistakable message of support from their constituents. Please take two minutes of your time to write your state Senator and tell them how important it is that they support medical marijuana. NORML has created pre-written letters that you can send to your legislators by visiting: https://capwiz.com/norml2/issues/alert/?alertid=6898581&type=ST Thank you for your help. Sincerely, Kris Krane Associate Director NORML |

The ball is rolling and rolling and rolling. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Goal: get all 50 states on the bandwagon. It's going to happen!

I have notified all my state reps, Funny when you talk to the politicians about mj law, they all look at you like you are insane... At least in iowa they do. The AARP is on board though so my guess is they will begin to look less crazily upon me soon enough.
