Vertical Areo- Will this work?
Hi I just wanted to ask before I fully built the thing:
I will be having PVC pipes at a nearly 80deg angle holding plants w/ vertical lighting fed by there own mister in an areo set up. I'm slightly concerned that gravity may cause me problems here. the mister will be set above the plant and I'm hoping that the plants dont mind growing sideways. Does anyone forsee a problem? Thanks |

I like your idea...
If you are looking for weight, I would ditch the Fluro's and use MH and HPS. get some cool tubes, a canfan, some switchable ballasts, some bulbs, and some ducting, and you should be golden. Your Hydro system seems right on... but the lighting and space needs to be replanned out Also, I think 4 x 3 is no where near enough space from what I understand through your sketches.. if you DO plan on using a 4 x 3 space, i would suggest 1 - 600w switchable ballast and a cool tube. Obviously if your room gets any bigger, you can purchase more lights. oh, and you said you were worried about the plants growing sideways... dude, plants can grow at many angles.. |

Thanks for the reply. My current problem is I have very limited space. I realize I would be giving each plant around 1-1.5 ft of room to grow up, I will have to top them ect. I have been considering the Idea of finding a way to make it larger but I dont know where the room in my appartment would be, I suppose I could only have one side of tubes.
With the lights I'm simply trying to save money. I'm not looking to break any world records on grams per watt. I'm just growing enough for 2 people and the extra sites will have like tomatos and stuff ![]() I'll probally begin construction in a few days, ill make sure to put up some actuall pictures. Thanks for the help. |

Maybe if you widened up the V shape, it would work. But with the whole setup 3 feet wide... that doesn't give you much room to grow out much of anything, especially at the bottom. That's the only problem I forsee.... and since you already built the box, I think it's a good idea to come up with a different hydro system.

would you mind possibly giving a brief explination of why. I'm not trying to say you are wrong or lying or anything of that nature, but I would like to know the basis of your statement. Anyhow if thats true thanks for saying so since your saving me a hell of alot of time and expense.
