I always have to combat PH rise in my buckets and I expect alot of other people, if not all do too. Easiest way I've found is I start with PH around 5.5 and let it rise till I change my nutes a week later. If I could keep it fixed, I would have it about 5.8.
6.4 is a tad high to start with. Most suggest having a PH around 5.5-5.8 |

Hi there,
Dr. D do you live in a 'hard' or 'soft' water area my friend?. An easy way to tell this is to look inside your kettle and if theres limescale the chances are you're in a HW (hard) area. I myself am unfortunate in as much as I live in a HW area and was for ever having to lower the pH, sometimes 2-3 times a week. Anyway, I use Ionic nutes and changed to Ionic Grow-HW. Bloom-HW etc, containing pH buffers, I found that the first new solution I made up using the HW nutes didn't need any pH Down at all  . It does still rise but this is no more than normal and at least I'm not throwing phosphoric acid at the rez every few days!. ATB & Good Luck with your grow, that plant looks great btw , Esskie

Thanks for ur input ,im using via-link nutes for soft water, the cf in my straight tap water is 04 which is not hard but not soft, we do get limescale in the kettle but all of the water for my plants is filtered thru a Brita filter, which takes alot of the crap out of the water..so it is soft after going thru the filter. My tap water is ph 8 before going thru the filter and bout 6.2 after..

The PH raise you are referring to is a natural thing, as the plants use up water and nutrients, the PH will raise, thats why checking your PH and TDS are essential to a good garden, In my current tube system with a twenty gallon REZ, i add about two gallons of PH'd water back into the rez every day...i then let the water mix for a few minutes and re check the PH, i keep it stable around 5.7 to 6.1

How's your water temps?
In my exeriences... PH jumping signficantly is a sign of a problem somewhere... Check your roots... are they healthy? PH will go through the roof if there are root issues. What nutes are you running? at what levels? what is your resevoir temps? |

IF you are choppin in a week... and the res is still going crazy... seems like a few PH'd water changes will be all you need... this will be good for your flush as well.... that water gets funky working all of the nute residue out.
