or 500
or 640 it depends on your conversion factor. forget ppm. EC is what any meter is reading, then converting it to ppm. peace, love & coco |

I messed around with the e.c. function on my pen and found that there was about a 200 ppm swing for the same e.c. There isn't a universally accepted conversion factor. I suggest you learn e.c. if that's what you're working with already.

AN use a conversion rate that make 700ppm into EC 1,0 ms/cm
Growing/measuring EC is the easiest way. It will always be more accurate and you go on by observing the plants needs in relationship to the measured EC, adjusting 0,1-0,2 whenever needed. (Most plants I grow will start at 0,6 and they actually peak as low as EC 1,3-1,8, but tomatoes and veggie stuff often run from EC 3,0-5,0!!!)

Here's a convertion chart for you.
But, as the wise ones in this thread said, drop the ppm and learn EC, you'll be doing yourself a favor. PPM testers actually measure in EC and convert to PPM, although the two scales (EC and PPM) are not directly related. Each nutrient (mineral) gives off a different discharge reading. To make it workable, an arbitrary standard was created which assumes that a specific EC means equates to a specific amount of nutrient solution. Consequently, the PPM reading is not precise at all, it is only an approximative estimation of the EC.
