Wow... designer colored seeds, for real. I guess it makes identifying mixed seeds a snap, and would buying a mixed pack a bit easier.
Just hope it doesn't mess with the germination ratios. From what I can gather, it reads: Quote:

Seed coatings, including stimulators/fertilzers are common in standard seed production.. especially when the seeds are too small, making it difficult to separate/plant. I can't remember what type of seed, but maybe it was lettuce comes this way.

its treated seed. no big deal, just don't eat it. The treatment is generally a fungicide to prevent damping off. i've seen aqua, red, and yellow powders used on veggie seed. I grow commercial varieties of sweet peppers and they always come treated, unlike the home grower stuff.
as was posted above, lettuce seed is just one variety that often gets pelletized because the seed is so tiny and hard to work with. they pelletize it in the same style pan rollers they make pan rolled candy in. eg., lemonheads, jawbreakers there's also seed tape where the seed is spaced evenly at the proper spacing so you just dig a trench, lay out the tape, and cover it. the 'tape' is very much like paper towel material so it lets in moisture and breaks down quickly. I use carrot seed tape.

That looks like a great idea, as long as it doesn't affect the seeds in any way.
