A good all around strain to have in the garden. It gets a 10 for ease of growing and yield. You can really change the appearance of the nugs by the way you treat this plant the last few weeks. Like a lot of the high oil production strains, it takes a while to mature, but it can be picked a good week early. In my experience this one likes to be picked with a few white hairs on the top, if you let it go all the way to amber heads the stone quality degrades to more of sleepy stone from the first toke to the end.

Most of the serious heads pass this one up when they are selecting some herb, but it has constantly been a staple in the high end commercial market in cali in the last few years. She puts out lots of stinky sticky resin early on in bloom and retains the smell and resin content well into the cure. Excellent bag appeal with the large light green nugs with bright orange hairs. Really high calyx to leaf ratio for a sativa.

Texture of it is great, part of the large yield to it is due to its density and ability to make rock hard flowers a good distance from the light source. The plant does produce a good calyx to leaf ratio, and due to the trichs being on the bud primarily, the bubble yeild is pretty small and difficult to make full melt.

Flavor is pretty strong in terms of intensity, the smoke is heavy and thick and can stink up a room in just a few seconds. The top nugs and the lower larfy popcorn tastes just as good, doesnt seem to be too effected by higher temps and light intensities causing the oils to evaporate, but it will start to foxtail the buds if you get it too close to your lamp.

The initial high from the strain is the best quality to its smoke, it really lifts you up and gets the wheels rolling, would be quite a special strain if it could keep that feeling going for an hour or so. Some sats can overpower you enough that it makes you light headed and have a sleepy feeling come over, not a fainting effect but a lethargic feeling - that is the case with the snowcap. The indica effect comes on fast and hard and can put ya out for the rest of the day if your not careful.

==================================================
PHYSICAL EXAMINATION
==================================================

1. Visual Appeal: 8.5
Rate the visual appeal of the buds from 1-10 unappealing-excellent.
Comment: Great looking nugs that have a very strong shine to them due to all the resin production. The nugs themselves are very large, solid, not too dense, but have a great texture. Sometimes when growing this strain out you find that slight changes in environment really change the bud appearance. Too little nutes or too much light and the tops really start foxtailing and sparatically sending out clusters of calyx reminiscant of sun flares on the sun. If it is grown realitvly modestly through its bloom cycle you will get some stacked up rock solid buds with rounded tops that dont look anything like a typical sativa nug. One of the most requested strains just based on appearance and nug quality.

2. Visible Trichomes: 9
Rate the visible trichome content from 1-10 none-totally covered.
Comment: While there is a good amount of trichs on this strain, it really shines..(pun intended) when you get it under natural light. This is one of my top 5 oiliest strains I have come across. You know the kinda bud that just pumps out essential oils, if you bumped into it blooming you would have visible streaks of oil on your skin. The smell and oils come out early in bloom and stay around months into the cure. When you look at it under the scope one of the first things you notice is the uniformity of the heads, all the sizes are the same and the colors are most all white. When blooming the strain out the last week or so it just kinda sits there and lets the hairs ripen, leaving you a large harvest window - however I find the peak high with this one is a bit earlier, when there are a fair amount of white hairs left, which can lead some to thinking it was pulled immature/early.

3. Use an X to indicate the colors that are present in the trichome heads under magnification or list the percentages of each color for
a more precise report.

Clear: 2%
Cloudy: 95%
Amber: 3%
Dark: 0%

4. Mark with X the colors that are present in the buds or for a more detailed color analysis rate presence on a scale 1-9 light-dark.
Brown:
Green: 2 Light green color to this one, has a lot of white heads which make the green look pale, though it is a dark green while growing.
Gold:
Blue:
Grey:
White: 3 Good coating of white trichomes all over the bud gives it a oily look in natural light
Red:
Rust:
Orange: 4 Lots of pistils when pulled a few days early, if you let it sit there the hairs will retract back intot he calyx a bit.
Purple:
Black:

5. Bud density: 8
Rate the bud density from 1-10 airy-dense. For samples that are not in their natural state leave this field blank.
Comment: dense nugs but not to the point where it is too difficult to break them down. You could break up enough for a joint in one hand with good speed, since ith as so much resin no matter how you break it up it will still have the flavor through and through till the end of the joint.

6. Use numbers 1-9 on descriptors that apply to the aroma of freshly broken bud where a one indicates a subtle presence and 9 indicates a pronounced presence.

Ammonia [ ] Anise [7] Earthy [ ] Licorice [3]
Berry [ ] Floral [ ] Mango [ ] Pepper [ ] Peach [ ]
Blueberry [ ] Fruit [ ] Lemon [2] Meat [ ] Petroleum/Fuel [ ]
Bubblegum [ ] Grape [ ] Melon [ ] Pine-sol [ ]
Cedar [ ] Grapefruit[ ]] Menthol [2] Pineapple [ ]
Cherry [ ] Grass/Hay [ ] Mint [ ] Rotten [ ]
Chocolate [ ] Hash [ ] Mold [ ] Skunk [ ]
Citrus [ ] Iron/Rust [ ] Musk [1] Spice [ ]
Coconut [ ] Leather [ ] Nutmeg [ ] Strawberry[ ]
Coffee [ ] Lemon [ ] Orange [ ] Vanilla [ ]

7. Aroma: 8
Rate the aroma from 1-10 repulsive-delightful. Use freshly crumbled bud for best results.
Comment: Smell is very strong anise like smell, smells like spicy licorice to some folks. It is a strong smell that is very unique, reminds quite a few growers of trainwreck after they have been around it a while. There is a spicy musky undertone that is hard to nail down, when coupled with the faint lemon smell it smells similar to lemon thai from dutch flowers seed company.

8. Seed content: 0
Rate seed content from 0-10 none-fully seeded.

Address these questions while smoking.

1. Please use a clean instrument for the evaluation. Enter information below that will identify the instrument as follows:
Water pipe (enter bong, hooka, bubbler etc): PHX bong
Vaporizer (enter the brand name):
Pipe (size-type, ie medium-glass):

Other (specify):

2. Use numbers 1-9 on descriptors that apply to the taste where a one indicates a subtle presence and a
nine indicates a very pronounced presence.

Ammonia [ ] Anise [ ] Earthy [5] Licorice [3]
Berry [ ] Floral [2] Mango [ ] Pepper [ ]
Blueberry [ ] Fruit [ ] Meat [ ] Petroleum/fuel [ ]
Bubblegum [ ] Grape [ ] Melon [ ] Pine [ ]

Coconut [ ] Leather [ ] Nutmeg [ ] Strawberry[ ]
Coffee [ ] Lemon [ ] Orange [ ] Vanilla [ ]

3. Taste: 8
Rate your impression of the taste from 1-10 unpleasant-delicious.
Comment: has a strong snowcap taste, nearly matches the smell but it doesnt have any of the anise smell in the flavor. There is a slight musky floral taste that you get in the after taste which is fairly pleasant.

4. State of dryness: 5
Rate the dryness of the bud from 1-10 wet-dry where 5 is ideal.
comment: Well cured samples

5. smoke ability: 4
Rate the smoke ability of the sample from 1-10 harsh-smooth.
Comment: Smooth and easy to burn, didnt have any problems burning up joints of it either, tasted good to the end.

6. Smoke expansion: 7
Rate how the smoke expands in the lungs from 1-10 stable-explodes.
Comment: Smooth going down but it has an initial expansion that most heads could get over pretty quick.

1. __[2 hits / .3g max ]__ Dosage
Enter the number of hits taken to reach desired effects.
Comment: First hit nails you immediatly like a sativa should. Second one needs to be smoked within 10-20 minutes or your going to be mixing a sativa effect with the come down of the first hit.

2. __[7]__ Effect onset
Rate how quickly the effect hit from 1-10 immediate-major creeper.
comment: Comes on quick, on the exhale you can feel it creeping in. It builds its potency in the background and the presents itself all at once about 10 minutes later, sometimes overpowering even seasoned smokers. From there the high stays about the same level for 10 minutes before starting to come down a bit

3. __[7.5]__ Sativa influence
Rate the sativa influence detected from 0-10 none-extreme. Sativa influence is best described as a clear and energetic mental effect.
comment: Initial hit is up and motivating, sometimes it is a little much if you smoke two quick bowls in a row. THe sort of feeling that makes you want to sit down if you stand up too fast right after smoking it.

4. __[6]__ Indica influence
Rate the indica influence detected from 0-10 none-extreme. Indica influence is best described as a sedative, lethargic or numbing effect that affects the body.
comment: the come down from this strain is very indica dominant, it can easily put you to sleep twenty minutes after smoking a few bowls of it, an interesting quiality due to the raciness of the strain during the first 15 minutes of the sampling.

5. __[8]__ Potency
Rate the potency of the sample from 0-10 none-devastating.
comment: Pretty strong herb, i smoke mostly elite strains and the more sought after hybrids, and this stuff always has been able to get me there, especially when its the first strain I go to. The snowcap doesnt cut through other strains to well when you have been smoking earlier in the day.

6. __[1 hour]__ Duration
Indicate the duration of time that the effects lasted.
comment: As stated above there is a 10-15 minute sativa ride right after smoking it, after that it is indica come down for the next 45 ins to an hour.

7. __[6]__ Tolerance build up
Rate how quickly tolerance builds from 0-10 none-rapid. Leave this field blank if you have not used this sample repeatedly.
comment: Has a low ceiling, you can only get so far when smoking it, but you will always be able to get to that level even if you smoke this daily and it is the sole strain you use.

8. Usability
Rate on a scale of 1-9 where a one indicates the worst time of day to consume this strain and a nine represents the ideal time of day.
Leave field(s) blank if you have not yet formed an opinion.

Morning - wake up []
Day - work []
Evening - relax [7]
Night - sleep [2]

9. __[8]__ Overall satisfaction
Rate your overall satisfaction from 1-10 poor-Holy Grail.

10. __[10]__ Ability and conditions

Thanks for the taking the time to read and post the great comments, very much appreciated!

KnottyDollar, I would of thought the same from its effects. For a while i recommended it to people for a good indica smoke as that is its primary effect after smoking. But after having aquired the popular cutting that is being circulated, growing it out, noting its characteristics in veg/flower/smoke - its more sativa than indica.

Nice report again man.Like always.Snowcap has been on my smoke list for awhile but its hard to acquire a sample were I am at.Very detailed sounds like a nice strain to give a try.Plus rep for always giving so much detail into your reports.you can tell by that that you know what your doing.

Excellent, and accurate, smoke report Sauron. Snowcap is a staple from my local dispensary, and while it isn't as powerful as their Sour Diesel, its high is unique as is its powerful smell and taste. Also, for someone who doesn't smoke every single day, Snowcap will blast you! its just for us stoneheads, IMHO, it has a low ceiling like Sauron described.

Nice report, the batch that I had of this was more on the spicy side. I agree with you on pretty much all aspects of this though. I had a really tough time driving, or being motivated on this stuff. I just wanted to nap or eat. Maybe the licorice taste you describe is the spicy taste that I encountered. It was earthy followed by spicy with a hint of flowers left on the tongue. Enjoy.

Stay safe,
SC
