120 Site Aero Grow

I don't know how many of you frequent OG, but I thought I would post some info here as well.

This is my 120 site grow. 6" PVC, 12 10' sections. 120 sites spaced 12" on center. This is my second grow in this setup. I think I finally got it dialed in. I am 2.5 weeks into flowering right now. Using GH's Flora line of nutes. Also Hydroguard was introduced in this grow to help combat algae. Seems to be working very well to date.

I am running 4, 1000W HPS Hortilux's. A 465 cfm blower and a 390 cfm inline fan for air exchange in the hoods.

I have a Flotec 1 HP Pump feeding 60 mister sites @ 35 psi.

Just picked up this 1/4 HP Chiller because I had algae/pythium/root rot problems last grow because of inconsistent rez temps.

You can clearly see the difference in roots from last grow...

...compared to this grow.

My moms in their cabinet.

Blueberry and HOG clones rooting.

I will post more as time progresses.

Be aware that the limited width of the tubes will restrict the size you finish with. As the plants grow larger the roots will block the nutes and form "pools" and this isn't aerated, so there is where the root problems can come from late in growth. You are wise to have added a chiller but a 1/3rd or larger hp would work a little easier. Checking your angle of drain on the tubes will speed the flow some too. with 12" centers its a shame these aren't larger to make use of the space! Check out Air cooled lights the right way in growroom designs to check out your fans too. Good Luck!

Where the hell did you pick up that chiller. That is exactly what i need for my Aeroflo 36 unit i if wanted to run in the summer. i was having simliar probs last year. Are you running the tables on different stages. Plants closer in the pic look very immature compared to the ones further away in the pic? Good Luck Jubei

badmf - I flower the plants at 10" and they finish between 24-36". The 6" tubes may be a little restrictive, but not much. I should be able to pull 30-40 grams per plant. That's 1-1.2 grams / watt.

I understand what you are saying about pooling, and this has already been addressed. I now aerate the rez and have increased the incline on the tubing to an 8" drop over 20', 1:24. There is no pooling anymore.

The chiller was rated to cool a 100 gallon tank by 10 degees. I have a 75 gallon rez, so it's sufficient. Temps never climb over 68 now.

betterboy - not sure what check valve you are talking about. On the feed lines to the pump I have a 1 1/2" check valve. This keeps the pump primed.

Jubei - the chiller was purchased of eBay. $350 shipped.

It is indeed 6" PVC. I used poly "saddles" to drape over the tubing to block light and heat. They didn't have black PVC so I had to get the white.
