hey everybody! well after the hydrohut incident, i lost 4 mature NYCD's and a few STDxNYCD seedlings.

they were lst'ed, then scrogged kinda. i topped each one at about the 3rd node and topped those tops again, and then topped those tops. whew, 16 tops or so... hopefully if they are both female, they will be ready to go into flower. i have a feeling these NYCD's will look like my last NYCD monster that didn't make it.


judging by the smell and look, i believe this is the ruby red grapefruit afghan-hawaiian pheno. reeks of grapefruit real strong!





this pheno is a pheno i encountered earlier. the first half of the pack were mostly this sativa phenotype.



a little trick another member inspired me to do to the seedlings that really stretched.

I'm down with ya on this one troopa. I have seen the knots before but never on any AS strains.

i tied the knot because they were 12/12 from seed under a 600 originally and stretched like a mofo because they were far from the light. then, i moved the survivors in a temporary veg chamber aka rubbermaid with a 42w cfl. it's not the desired spectrum, but i'm so broke and you gotta use what you got!

What an awesome way to take up for the stretching. Do you tie them loose and then they tighten as they grow? I would almost think that it would be some type/form of supercropping the plant....very intresting indeed and I am going to follow this one like a hawk. One is never to old to learn new tricks of the trade.

Troopa that 42wCfl is not very far off from what I use in the early veg stages. I start my babies off under 96w FS fluoros for the first week. I think its the "New Wave T-5 2' 4 lamp FS. I use a couple of them here and there:wink:. I also started using the big 4 footers, the 4 bulb T-5s FS during the peak summer months. I reduced my 1K HPS down to a 600watt digital and I am saving green while getting the same results and with much less heat. I love the fluoros, I just wish they would start lowering the price on them. They will when the new plasma lights hit the market.

i had a bunch of the 23w daylight cfls, but they broke. you could probably tighten them, but i haven't. some say that if the knot is tight, then it will close up on it's own.

i really want the 2' 4 bulb T5 that you are talking about. how much did you get it for?

I get the little 100 watters (96w)for about 160USD. They can list anywhere from 160 to 200USD. If you decide to go for it then be sure to ask the salesman to put FS bulbs in it ......2 MH x 2 HPS.

here's my favorite pheno responding pretty decent to the scrog/lst.




that cd bx2 looks awesome! what medium do you use annaC? i got all my babies in a soilless mix composed of peat, perlite, wood charcoal, lime, and wetting agent. stitch over at the infirmary suggests a low ph, so mine is about 5.8-6.2.

feeding with 1/4 strength earth juice grow, 1/2 strength liquid karma, 1/2 strength thrivealive, and molasses.

Lately I have been using a 60% Coco 40% perlite mix. I have been using EJ Grow & Bloom (currently at 1/2 strength) with a little dash of general hydroponics Subculture microbes. Ph is at 6.0-6.2 range.
