monkey5....
I'm not moonshineman....but a bow needs to be the correct draw length for you.... Go to a hunting specialty store and have the guys there measure you up. They might even have an indoor bow range that you can try a few practice shots...and of course they will have about a million different bows to check out. I think that the laws on hunting with cross bows vary from state to state.... In my state, you must be able to medically prove a handicap to use cross bows to hunt with (legally). Check your local wildlife and fisheries website for more info. Anyone can buy a cross bow, but only for recreational shooting....not hunting. Be sure and check your local laws first.... Definately don't need to get wrapped up in any B.S. behind it. Mathews, PSE, Martin, C.P. Oneida, Browning, Bow Tech, Bear archery all make really nice bows. Good luck!

brneydbvr, thank you for the answers !!! im not really thinking of hunting per se....so no laws will be violated for hunting. i will be going west here soon west coast bound...i have been there before ...cali. in L.A. but this time to North cali me thinks and im not legal to get the concel carry permit...so a cross bow is/will be my choice. home protection !!! a good dog to alert me ... i am a peaceful person but my past does not let me have guns... so a bow will still protect/self defense ... i have been robbed a gun point on two different times... thank you again for the help !!! monkey5

Well hell..... that's cool.
A good dog goes a long way! Check out BassProShops or Cabela's for some cross bows. Take it easy...

Mathews, Bowtech, Hoyt.......those would be my top 3.....price ranges from 500-900$.....Im not a big fan of crossbows.......They serve their purpose but not in the woods unless your disabled.....Crossbows are like Rifles to me.....If you dont have to hold the bow string back its cheating....lol.....
Like BR said....hit an archery shop and shoot a few, figure out what feels best in your hands.......good luck... MSM |
