Question Waterfarm question...

Hello,

i need to take a sip from the well of knowledge...(genuflects)

i just started 2 grape punch sprouts in rockwool in my new waterfarm.

when i change the reservoir, can i use the liquid for my other plants growing in soil??

can i leave the pump on all the time?

any opinions on the 3-part nutes that come with the unit?

do i need a TDS meter?

can i use my soil PH meter for hydro?

all plants under 400W MH. including HOT peppers.

Hope to have grape punch for Easter/birthday time

Thanks in advance,

sleepy

Hey,Sleepy
I've been using waterfarms for a while now, with pretty good results.
I use my drainage on my soil household plants - no problems yet,but probably kind of "used up" in nutrients.
I leave my pumps on all the time. The nutrients are the "flora" series from GH - lots of people use them.
You need a TDS meter, just to learn what's going on.
I don't think you can use a soil PH meter in hydro.
Sounds like a tasty grow.Have fun.

Hey there Sleepy!! Lemme see if I can help ya here...for your first question, are you using the 3 part gh mix right now?? If so, I highly recommend not using your res change nutes on soil plants!! The 3 part is a chemical nute made for soiless medium...your better off buying a small bottle of organic stuff, such as pureblend, or something in that nature...I wouldn't leave the pump runnin, it makes your res heat up..I would set it on small frequent feedings...the 3 part mix is good!! Excellent and inexpensive stuff Most definately need a tds meter!! Ever try to drive a car blind folded?? You'll need to know the nute levels and especially need to know when your salts are building up!! And no to the soil ph meter...I hope I helped ya, and goodluck onyour grow

Sleepy my friend, If u want a nutrient that you can use on Soil and "Dro" grows, I recommend Vita-link, I have a pic of the grow, bloom, and buddy

Just ignore the clonex and formulex.
These are great, work really well, and Ive had no trouble, I grew my Hindu Kush X Skunk#1 mother in a home made DWC, with the grow, and only changed the nuted 3 times in 4 months, just topping up. Never tested PH, or adjusted it(as I had no kit) and that plant grew like a kotherfucker, taking over half of the veg-room quicktime. She was getting too big for her boots, so I Whacked her ass, lol. No9 clones kept as it is mediocre. This was Kulus version, 1 pheno
anyway, these nutes are great for soil and Hydro, I just bought theor silicon product, "Silicon + " today, will put a pic in my Farm thread.

Sleepy - just so you know, since your pump isn't IN the resevoir, you don't need to worry about heat build up in the resevoir!! You are using an external air pump, right?
Plus,I've noticed the grow rocks dry out pretty fast if you turn the pump off - don't know if it makes a difference, but Gen.Hydro says to leave the pump on.
It is just an aquarium pump.

sleepy, the best advice i can give u being an 8-module water farm owner is too go to www.overgrow.com and do a search for waterfarms. There is a thread were scores of people post daily about all the modifications they made to there waterfarm because they do not circulate correctly so ph rises differently in each module. I got a water pump and place it in the controller and pump out all nutes into the res. that came with the unit, I have 2 airstones in the res. that mix and give 0xygen, I then check ph and pump back to controller and modules, since I began this method my ph has been consistant threw out the hole farm. this modification is quite simple and unexpensive. Get a ph and ppm meter as soon as u can. the hannah units are chinsey, but they do the trick, just don`t drop it in water or your beat. if your useing your farms individualy, I would change nutes every 3 days, and top off in between with half strength nutes at a ph .2 lower then what u would like it to be.

ooo, and run your ring feeders every other hour when light on and 15 min. every 2 hours when lights off. This will stop stagnate issues.
