I thought I would, but I did not take detailed pictures of the entries, just a quick photo of some numbered bags and the judging form. It seemed more important to start evaluating and not take too much time admiring the samples. It was more than I expected, getting an envelope full of weed. I realised I needed to do organise the way I would think about this.
I laid out all my samples and looked at them, classified them as indica or sativa and grouped them according to general appearance. How do we compare red bud with white widow? It was a lot of fun, but work too. GLAD I got an early start, because the second day of smoking as a concerted effort was more wearing. Hasj at the end of the day was goofy and fun. The event has been very interesting, loosely constructed but with plenty ofopportunities to interact. Yesterday Mila Jansen of Pollinator showed how to make ice hasj from the little washing machine and hasj screened bags, turning seven ounces of dry leaves into an attractive little golden mountain of moist fresh hasj. Fascinating knowledgeable people are talking seriously about growing weed and passing around plastic containers of big plump buds. |

damn slycrayon, it must be tough judging the high of all those buds, since it takes a while to wear off, and the next samples rips you more and more...respect to all the judges who are lending their lungs for such a worthy cause

Thank you for recognising the WORK!, southflorida. Yes, I tried very hard to be impartial (not hard, I don't know so many people at ICMAG) and perform as much as possible the same test routine and think about the same expectations with each sample. I know from reading the ICMAG how serious the growers are about their weed, so this was no random buzz fest for me.
Nice to meet Cap't Crip briefly, it was hard to both connect socially and spend away time from the ICMAG group. Because it was 420, I had made prior commitments socially which confilicted with the ICMAG smoke out yesterday afternoon. Tough, but we cannot be everywhere. Don't really have time to write much; have a scheduled meet this morning with friends from another forum. I really enjoyed the ICMAG 2008 Browers & Greeders Cup Event. It is not just random sampling by interested parties and I hope that the current level of dedicated integrity can be maintained. The quality of the product of the future lies in the hands of those who grow the plants today, so all education and responsible business practice benefit the process. Recognising excellence and remembering it is key to advancing the cause for good cannabis, despite the dispiriting political opposition. Very much enjoyed meeting the people behind the spirited words on forum. Took the opportunity of listening and speaking with fewer people perhaps, but I took away warm memories of the contacts made and hope to see you again in Amsterdam. Thanks to Dutchgrown and Gypsy and our undying gratitude for his invaluable contribution in the preparation of those many savory samples goes out sincerely to Old Pink. |
