to endulge legally in my favorite hobby where should I plant my roots?
My only real preferances is that is has to be along the coast.

Are any areas populated with Smoker-friendly people or the opposite perhaps?

With our war on drugs up in the nordics we are kept in the quiet about Spains Cannabis situation so any pointers are appreiciated.

I think you've been misinformed.

Growing and smoking Canna in Spain is just as illegal as it is elsewhere. It's tolerated in a similar way as it's tolerated in Amsterdam - but that still doesn't make it legal.

Many people seem to think that Canna is legal in Amsterdam - it is not, never has been and probably never will be.

Consume is legal in private places like your house..... is illegal in public places. If u been busted by cops is 300 € possesion. Is not legal to plant .
Then there are places like basque country that is tollerate and u can smoke in bars... some discos, terraze...

I thought growing and smoking were okay within reason as long as you don't sell?

edit: I did some research and found two sites that said it has been decrimmed to grow+smoke within your own home and two that said otherwise, need somebody to clarify

grow shops are legal
seeds are legal
growing is illegal.
Consume drugs (heroin,mushrooms, cannabis, coke....) in private place is legal.
Consume drugs in public places and possesion is a ticket between 300€ and 6.000 €
Growing weed is totally ilegal and if u get busted by the cops u go to the court probably.... but u dont go to jail if is for your consume and u can prove it....

What is nice is that a couple of plants are often taken as "legal"... people will not grass you up and cops will walk past them and/or comment on how nice they are without busting you.

Consume drugs to your hearts content at home, normally they can/will only raid you if there is clear information and evidence you are dealing. Cannabis use is endemic here, people of all ages blatantly enjoy the herb and the idea of raiding a smoker to get some hash, laughable. I have been given hash to skin up with by my mates 60yo cousin.... the local cop ! Another time, stopped at 2am on a "Smuggling route" I was asked if I had hash, I said no, he looked in the back, saw no tons, happy and about to let me go, he found 2g of icehash in the dashboard, he goes "Eh ?" [like, you told me you had no hash] ... I just replied "Siii, but you want tons ?..... he just went yeah, and popped it back in the dashboard.

If you have more than a couple of plants you are entering a grey area, the danger is that they declare it a "Plantation" and start treating you as a big time NarcoTraffico. Your attitude and replies, evidence of scales, bags, phones etc can hang you.

Where you are is important.... The Basque Country and Catalunya are semi autonomous regions, and iirc others have some "local powers" ... here we are loosing the paramilitary Guardia Civil and getting Mossos D' Esquadra... and they are taking over drugs. This means enforcement varies quite a lot as does what happens afterwards. Being a foreigner changes things too, plead nice ignorant tourist and you may walk, confess to being a global narco journeyman and you will not.

As with a lot of places, big cities tend to be more liberal, remote countryside, possibly less so.

If you do get caught being very bad, it is possible you may be given bail and be free to leave, never to be chased if you stay out of Spain. Likewise, there are a couple of unlucky growers here who are not free to return home.

Thanks for the replies.

I have no plans on becoming a big scale grower/seller or anything of the sort, what I do want is to be able to grow a small amount without having to worry about going to jail or beeing thought of as a leech on society and a criminal.

I'm a closet grower so beeing able to just up my plant count from 1-3 to a more realistic amount for a everyday smoker like myself will be well worth it.

Yeaah, but if you want the spanish laws with the posibilite of grow weed all the year outdoor, you need came to the canary islands borther hehehhe.

Laws on cannabis in Spain are just like everything else here - there is never any corporate policy.

Go to the Town Hall with a query, someone will give you an answer - ask someone else (or even the same person) the next day - you will get a different answer.

They just make it up as they go along. So I would say, do as the Spanish do - do your grow - should a member of the Guardia Civil, or Policia Local, or Policia National (three police organisations and they all operate different policies) make any queries, bung him some cash or some weed - they are ALL totally corrupt - and go on your way rejoicing.

Noone here ever gets sent down if they have enough cash.
