GH White Rhino Questions
First off, i would be honored to have my post read by a greenhouse seed member, my hat is off to your abilities and accomplishments. With that said, let me explain my dilemma.
My grow space is a 23" deep, 57" wide, 6' tall closet. Ive never done an indoor grow before and have pondered whether a 23" deep closet will be sufficient for a full grown white rhino plant? Im going for this strain simply because of its potency/yield, and short height. Im worried that with the narrow depth of this closet that the plant will be cramped for space? Width-wise im fine, i could simply reduce the number of plants, but the depth is like a thorn in my side. I know of techniques such as topping/LST/scrogg/sogg etc... But what does the old girl white rhino like? Is my space sufficient for a 3-4 plant grow? I will use feminised seeds for sure. I also plan on using soil, not sure on the mix yet but definitely soil. Does the rhino prefer a certain mix to another? Plan on going with a Ceramic Metal Halide bulb for the entire grow, what are your opinions on these blubs franco? I assume you have heard of them, could even be using them? Any input is appreciated, thanks in advance and keep doing what u do.

Your space is definetely not deep enough for more than a single line of plants (6 up to 10, depends on your preference and technique). The White Rhino is a great choice for a cramped space because it stays relatively short and it doesn't need much branching to make huge colas.
Make sure you flower the plants very fast (MAXIMUM after 14-18 days from the opening of the cotyledons and the first leaf growth) and split the main top 7 days before flowering. Trim the lowest two sets of branching when you switch on 12/12. This way the plants will have a double-head and not too much low branching. It should maximize your production. I would not suggest a SGRoG if it is your first grow. Get acquainted with your space in a simple way, stay flexible until you "learn" your new space. The Rhino does great in soil, use a turfy mix with lots of air inside (fiber, perlite, it's all good as long as it brings lots of air into the medium). Try to start with a pH around 5.8 and slowly build it up. Begin flowering at 6.0-6.2, and keep climbing steady into 6.5-6.7 at end of flowering. Boost P and K at week 4-5 of flowering, then slow down. The Rhino can take a lot of feeding (EC up to 2.2-2.4 in full boost), but if you grow for personal smoke I suggest you do not exceed 1.8 to have the best flavor and terpins variation. The grams will be there anyway, it's a great producer. The Ceramic Metal Halide bulb is great for vegging, but for real good flowering and resin production you should have more orange-yellow-red in your spectrum. HPS (High Pressure Sodium) is still my favorite. I know a lot of growers are now into LED and all this new stuff. I am a bit old-school when it comes to that. I like to let the market test the new stuff for a few years and fix all the glitches, then I like to try.... Happy grow! Keep us posted..... |

Thank you for the quick response Franco, and the depth of information is greatly appreciated. Let me recap, please tell me if i've mistaken anything you've said.
-Sprout the seeds in an airy soil -Around 8 days after i see my first leaves, "top" or "fim" the plant. -7 days later, flip to flower and trim the lowest, and second lowest sets of branches Thanks again franco. One more thing. Ive done quite a bit of browsing around and doing research on this CMH light. From what i understand it produces more of a full orange/yellow/red spectrum than the HPS. I do not know how to post a picture of its spectrum but i do have a link in which you would scroll down a little bit to see it. Please tell me what you think about this, could i be mistaken? Here is the link: https://advancedtechlighting.com/cdmed18.htm

Correct.
Of course the exact day depends on the growth of the plants. You should FIM when there are at least 3 sets of leaves growing well. And trim the lowest when the little plant is at least 5" tall. The spectrum for those Philips bulbs seems very complete..... try it out and let me know what you think of them! They resemble the older AGRO types.... :-) |

One more question franco, what sized pots should i use throughout the grow? I know many people transplant multiple times, any advice?
