Original LR
I know, I know, not MD's strain. But, I've done it here before so I'll do it again!
These are about 30 days in now. Not too many pics this time around, but I'll keep better track on the next run that I've got starting up. Trying to get these down to a perpetual grow. The two larger plants are GH White Rhino. They're in the same dirt from the same batch, but must have been a little more sensitive. I had composted my previous grow's dirt and clippings. Thought that it was better cleaned out than it was. Got the issues with them under control now so if they look like shit it's because I fucked up. The LR's handle the hard soil really well. They also grow within 10" of my 400w hps and don't burn a bit. They are really hearty plants, imo. Started out with 6 in the bucket and two were male. So there are 4 females in there now. The tallest two are pushing 24" and all have some serious side branching going on. Not too many node buds, but lots of tops. They'll fill in quite nicely when it's all done. This pheno also has a really high calyx to leaf so it's super easy to trim up. The other pheno that I have is a little shorter, produces just as much, but is a little tougher to trim because it's a little leafier. Nice, quick little plants anyway you cut it. And for me, I need my weed NOW!!! On with it... Bucket in back. These shorter pics are from 13 days ago. 6" whisperline inline and two 400w hps ballasts. The can that it pulls through. My own craftiness with some help from other members... Last edited by SpacedCWBY; 03-29-2008 at 10:31 PM.. |

Put 20 beans in the paper towel a couple days ago. I made these from some LR that I procurred from DrCh a couple years ago. Tend to get around 50/50 m/f ratio, so I'm hoping to end up with about 10 girls. 18 popped, so we'll see how they do. Starting them in cups until sex. I was putting 2 or 3 in a 2 gallon pot and hoping for the best before. They grew fine that way, but I kept ending up with 2 in one pot and nothing in the other.
These ought to be ready to transplant into a large tub (like the 4 I have going now) by the time the current LR's are done. I bought another large tub so hopefully I'll be able to put 5 in one and 5 in another. I'll fill them both up to within a couple inches of the top as well. Right now, it's only about 8" deep or so in there. By the time the 4 LR's are done, I'll need to start a few more White Rhinos too, so it's going to get really cramped I'm thinking. We'll see how it goes. Trying to keep smoking for free and fulfill a test grow (see GH forum) that I was allowed to do. It's going ok, but should have been better. I had some changes in situation soon after I got the beans and I had to put it off for a while and didn't have nearly the space to do it as originally planned. The tub isn't being drained, I just make sure that they are good and dry before I give them more water. I'm going to start working on another space to grow as this space is really kinda restrictive as you can tell. It's packed in there now! Take a look! I know that I've seen thread in here before about breeding an AF strain but my question is... I've got some pollen from a male LR. I have two fem'd White Rhino's going in there right now. I had thought about using some of the pollen on one of the branches (apply with paint brush). What would the outcome of the next generation be? Waste of time or worth pursuing further? Thanks for checking in. |

No, never done the LR2 or any other AF crosses.
You're on the right track making some beans right away. I bought one 10 pack a couple years ago and 9 turned out. Out of the 9 I had 5 ladies. Used the pollen from the nicest looking male (killed others before they shit all over) and made a shitload of seeds. Well in excess of 400. Definitely worth the time and effort. Still get to smoke some decent bud too, just don't get too much after bean pickin'. Good luck, interested to see how yours turn out. |

Whats some germinating tips you can give me? I heard lowryder have a poor germ rate. And that sometimes they keep their helmet on after breakin the soil. Im order the cheap 5 pack would you do the the 5 at once or like 2?

No special tips. See the seeds above. They were started in paper towel until the tap roots popped out to about 1/4". Just keep them somewhere warm. I just put them in the soil yesterday like that and I've got 8 above soil with seed leaves and a couple starting on a tiny first set of blades.
You can try cracking them open, but you may end up regretting it and they're easy to crush. Just buy 10 and start them all at once. You'll probably find about 50/50 m/f. 8 or 9 should germ no problem provided they are well cared for. If you have a few that aren't popped after 3-4 days, try cracking it open just a little bit. Be careful though as they're really soft at this point. Have fun! |

I hate to say it, but I went through Dr Chronic. One of his "stealth" packages made it, the other was stolen by the CBP.
See what SeedBoutique has first. The package I got from them was very nice. |
