The New Smoke Report Forum
[b]Hi IC'ers,
In this thread I'd like to discuss the new shape of the Smoke Report forum. First off you can ditch the old form. I understand that a lot of time and effort went into it. But if it's not entertaining as well as informitive it wont excite many. Stating that I'd like you to write reports in your own words. What you feel inside and certainly if you smoke with a crew give us their opinions. If you friend passes out, let us hear about it. I want to put the human element back into smoke reports. Of course there are a few important facts that every report should include somewhere in the body of the report. How it smells, looks, tastes, the high and any conclusions or comparisons to other strains that you may offer. I would love it if you write in a relaxed down home stye that helps us relate to you, and want to be in(or at) your place. After all we already relate with our hobby. Finally do your best to expose that fancy strain behind the big name. Let us all know how it really is. I'll bet many of us will base a lot of buying decisions on the way you present your reports here. If any of you have anything more to add please feel free to add it here for thought and discussion. As this is your forum, I was just invited. |

Yes you can Grat3fulh3ad, I'm trying to figure out how to bring my pictures over here for my reports. I can cut and paste the words but what to do about the pictures. Skip told me last year that there was a way to do this.
Also I'd like to archive our smoke reports into some kind of strainguide of smoke reports. Something listing the strains in alphabetical order and placing all the reports for the same strain in the same folder. This way you can read several different reports of the same strain. Long after they are not current threads. This would be the ultimate buyers guide. But I don't wanna get too far ahead of myself. What do you think? Toletca, yes there was a form. Not needed now. Excellent... I'll do so...I'll try to figure something for the pix...
My C99xA11 are already in the gallery here, as are the sour bubble... I may have my other ones on a cd somewhere... We definately need some sort of organised format to make same strain reports easy to find... This is gonna end up a primo resource for the would be seed buyer.

As long as were delving into the subjective, I've always had a problem with smoke reports. How do we know the tolerance of the user involved? Effect and potency have everything to do with the tolerance of the person conuming the plant. About the only aspect that would translate is taste and smoothness, and of course, even that will be different grow to grow depending on the skill and wishes of the grower. I guess what I'm saying is I'd like to know where the individual testers are in their cannabis consuming habits.
Are you a: -Heavy Smoker (6+ times daily) -Moderate Smoker (2-6 sessions daily) -Light Smoker (1-2 times daily) -Recreational User (less than one time per day) and..... Is the cannabis you consume regularly -Excellent -good -midgrade -schwag I know, all subjective. Someone who has smoked Mexican all year and does a hit or two of my SC99 might just pass out from the spins, while if I had a joint of someone elses, say....Trainwreck, I might be the one passing out (doubtful, my tolerance is currently as big as it gets) Oh and hey! Congrats Smokey! I'm sure you'll do an excellent job. Already have. |

Yes Grat3fulH3ad, I can see a lot of excitement already. A lot of people are going to give me the help that I need. I thank you for yours. Last night it got late, so today I'll find out if I can transfer pictures from OG. This can be the nicest resource guide on the net. Seed buyers can read reports next year and still be able to ask the author questions. Now that's community.
Thanks Okie, I look foward to your work. Help is comming, Thanks. Thanks HOG, I'm glad you like some of my ideas. Got any yourself? Caprichoso, Yours is the most difficult response to answer. You are absolutely right as we all have different likes and dislikes. Tolarences are different with each smoker. But most growers are long time smokers or people that love smoke so much that they have decided to grow their own and skip the buying. Such people usually have a much better connection with the plant than buyers. Most grower after some experiance growing different strians grow a sixth sense on the differences and effects of out favorite plant. It is this sixth sense that I look for in reports that make it all worthwile. Another factor is once several reports on the same strain begin to appear you can be sure that you have a terrific idea if that strain is for you. These things take time, but would you rather believe the seed bank's description? |

Fair enough. Your right, once you see reports from multiple sources, it's much easier to make conclusions.
I hope your not reading my post as having an attitude, it was really not intended that way. I stopped believing seed packet info when, years ago, one seed company started telling growers to use 48 hours of darkness after harvest for better potency(or whatever the claim is). That is such a blatent marketing device as to be in splashed in neon, yet today, that sentiment is nearly cannabis dogma, with some people now going two weeks darkness and even giiving a dark period before going from veg to flower. ![]() People will say thoses numbers are a guideline, but of what? Was the test sample grown indoors, out or half and half? Organic or chemical? Soil or hydro? Seed or clone? Who knows? All these things can have a factor in those numbers on a seed pack and little of it is relevant to me, my growroom, and the way I grow. |
