Victorian lantern cloche?
Here is a pic of a victorian style lantern cloche. Gardeners use these to protect germinating plants from frost, animals and heavy rainfall. Take a look:

search 'coldframes'.
They're available in a wide variety of shapes and sizes from many online greenhouse and garden supply distributors. They work fine for starting plants, but there are definitely far cheaper ways to accomplish the same thing such as using metal hoops and heavy plastic. i don't think i'm allowed to post links yet, but just search google and you'll find a lot of options |
