This is the mite infested plants I killed off after six weeks of flowering. They weren't even close to being finished by appearance and since this was the first time I have grown this strain out that wasn't seeded, I still havent tasted the bud itself in it's proper sensimilla form. Odd to make oil out of sensimilla before having tasted the bud. Anyway, I have 20 clones of this Ortega X SC X SC ready for growing so a tasty treat is only three months away. Spring bud!

The plants

Close up, looks nice

Shredded by grinder

Oil making materials, about $2. Bud is in jar on the left

Shake IOS bud mixture vigorously for two minutes and strain through metal coffee filter into paper filter

Should look like this

Can you make out the waxy material built up on the paper coffee filter? It impeded flow somewhat so I use a reservoir for putting aside strained liquid that doesn't fit in the paper filter. This keeps it out of the plants, too.

Finally I set the full amount of liquid in very hot water and let if float for awhile. It will take all day for this to dry out.

That is the blackest iso I have seen, lol. You sure you only shook it for 2 min? How long did it take to drain? Mine is a light green.

that what u get wit cheap iso....thats y hexane is the shiznit,....u always get golden honey...wit any matrial..also...u should take the top off thejar and screw the filter over the top...and screw the top back on with out the center piece...then flip....strain from the jar that has the material in it ...

Yeah, color suprised me too. It was definatly only two minutes soaking. Perhaps because there was 1/4 pound of material? Maybe I'll do a 60 second soak next time. Anyway, just follow along and we'll see how it turns out.

Hexane. Yeah, I'll be consuming that real soon. I know for a fact Iso alcohol evaps completely.

1/4 pound is a lot. That could be why.

Well, it turned out excellent. 5.8 grams of sweet cherry oil. I'm processing pics now, will post them in a bit

Ok, so the oil floats in the hot water for awhile and immediately the black shit begins to seperate. You can see the globs forming along the edge of the dish

Check out the steam on the right side. I have VERY hot tap water, and a sinkful will need replacing every hour or so

Al the level goes down, the black shit congeals along the bottom, leaving a delicious red oil floating on the surface. It's not perfectly pur, but I aint a perfectly pure kinda guy

Pour it into a second glass pan and then back in the hot water for final evap. I'm not happy until it powders off the bottom. You'll see.

In the end it came out to almost six grams, which is great from plants that had the best three weeks of life left to resin up. You can see the powderized stuff on top of the red globs that look black.
