cannabis cup 08'
I am currently recovering from a bust back in June when my house burned down and have been going through a pre trial intervention/rehab deal to stay away from jail and want to celebrate my "graduation" if you will, and I was thinking of taking a trip to the dam for the HTCC. I am still deciding if I would like to be a judge or not but my main question is how is the dam during this crazy of a festival? I get off of my "deal" in august so the HTCC will be just in time for me to get some of my tollerance back up to par or at least enough to enjoy such a session. I have been to the dam before, I went for new years back in 03/04 and it was awesome! Not to busy bu plenty of people around. I will be taking my wife this go around and am wondering if itll be more beneficial for us to go duing the Cup or during a lesser time say in September around my birthday. Also if anyone has been to the cup, what can I expect as a judge aside from the obvious? Thanks everyone, and be safe. REMEMBER TO TURN OFF ALLLLLL LAMPS IN THE HOUSE, AND TELL YOUR PETS NOT TO KNOCK THEM OVER WHILE YOURE GONE.
Cheers Moneyshot PS if anyone is going that might be a cool time to meet up with some friendlys. We will probably be staying in the Krasnoplsky (dont know how to spell it) |

It would be best to go to a real cup as is being held by the admin of this site on 4/20..
It's called the ICMag grower/breeders cup... Truly hard core growers and breeders entries in this cup...Not a buy your cup for the right price as you see with the HTCC... If you really want to see top notch smoke then this would be your best bet... If you like the touristy feel of the HTCC then thats OK too. Just thought i would give you a heads up about a real contest where the best will be chosen for top honors...Not because of who spent the most on promotion... Take care.......................... ..CC |

MOneyshot.... I think a Cup trip would be just what the Dr ordered.... Sure it;s BS, but it is fun. Lots to do.
The weather sux in Nov., however, Can rain EVERY Day.... S0, if you are game, the Sept. idea is great too. You will get better weather. AMS is always a breath of fresh air, except in summer when the canals smell - then it is great, but a bit stinky...- lol. |

Ya see I am a self proclaimed true connesiour (SP?) and want the best weed. I would love to attend the 420 cup but I dont get off probation until August so that is out of the question. My prefrence is for good quality herb, the ability to sit in a coffee shop and not have a line out the door waiting for a seat or bag of grass that was pulled early so that they can get it into registration. It will be her first time to AMS but we have been growing our own for 4 years up until our recent tragedy. We both appreciate quality herb but want a nice claming atmosphere. The HTCC seems like the herb might be hit or miss due to time constraints and the amount of people who want to be judges. I know its probably not polite to be asking about this festival as IC has there own and I love this forum, but just curious. The HTCC seems like one of the "i did it and it was pretty cool" experiences, but Id rather enjoy the real AMS than a tourist attraction. So my thoughts are all over the place. Have any of you been?

It depends on what you think the obvious is. Wasn't impressed with the HTCC 07 way to much standing around waiting for them to get the act together, with no chill out zone or acessible amenities for those with medical needs. If you expect tons of freebies with a pass you might get dissapointed. While you will get loads of fre vape bags & pre rolleds thrown out now and again during grow seminars etc then other than for Barneys everywhere else you paid for the entry.
I'm not going to go on but I will say the reason I want to try the IC cup is because if your a judge you can judge all categories (supposedly). At the HT one you are only rating the coffeeshops the overall cup is decided by a bunch of private celebs who do get the buds free. I would recomend going for your birthday & spend the extra pass cost on some nice treats. |

Do you know what the pass costs are for each category & where to buy them? I would like to try the IC cup I can get the reason for categorising & may even try them all , but at least your voting on the main cup for that category.

^^^ HTCC can be fun. But you cant take it too seriously. I have been to a few, last years was a major dissapointment. Many of the events on the schedule didnt happend because to many HT members were in "meltdown", which I guess is the term when you smoke too much and dont feel like working... As a judge, you get a few ammenities, but they are DEFFINatly not handing out free weed. However the party buses that went from train station to power zone were nice. So nice, I would sit on them and just roll up weed and talk with other judges who were going to powerzone. The biggest problem I had was how much they want for herb in A'dam. Over here were paying about $5-10 a gram. In netherlands herb cost around 11-15 euro. So after exchange rates you are paying almost $17-25 per gram. And i wasnt that impreessed with the herb. HTCC is not for coinessuers. Most people I met there smoked very little, or smoked really low grade weed. I only met two people who actually grew. I will tell you one thing, during the cup (and the week before and after) every (reputable) coffeeshop will be packed. Rooms will be crowdes, seats will be scarce and service will be less than exquisit. But if you have never been to amsterdam, it is definatly worth the experience to walk into a shop, purchase and than consume your cannabis without having to worry about persecution. |

thanks for all the insight. I have been twice, both were during new years, but my wife has not. I'm thinking I'd rather go during my birthday, two months earlier and enjoy a'dam the way I remember, decent amount of people but killer treats, which is what I'm after. The judge thing after some sober thought seems like it might be quite cumbersome. So I figure going during that time and not even judging would be aggrevating. Is anyone gonna be there during September. Also what do you guys think about the krasnalopsky (sp?) ?
