Grabbed some SoGouda at Pollinator in the 'dam. Nice people, I'd go there in a heartbeat again (they kindly brought me out some green tea and made me feel right at home while I looked through their list of available strains). Also grabbed Lavender but from Hempshopper. The broad in there practically attacked me when I walked in....she must have smelled the wad of Euros I brought for my shopping spree.
Overall I have to say that Soma's strains are a bit difficult to get. They weren't in great supply which is probably an index of their demand. I hit practically every shop.
I didn't go looking for SoGouda, but after looking at the genetics of it: Blueberry x Cheese x G13 Haze....I could hardly ignore it.
Additionally, Soma's website specifies that the minimum yield is 40 grams...with a moderate flowering time of 9-10 weeks (I can live with that).

I'm curious: is that a relatively accurate figure for minimum yield? Strains like Lavender are suggesting a minimum of only 12-15 grams....

If SoGouda is a monster in terms of yield it may be one of the first beans I bake.

I brought back 20 different strains. It's hard to choose the first wave.

Here's the list of stuff I got organized alphabetically by seed company...

Stargazer: Delta 9 Labs

Rocklock: DNA Genetics

Papaya: Nirvana

Amsterdam Flame: Paradise Seeds
Ice Cream: Paradise Seeds
Nebula: Paradise Seeds
Rox: Paradise Seeds
Opium: Paradise Seeds
Durga Mata: Paradise Seeds

Ed Rosenthal Super Bud: Sensi Seeds
First Lady: Sensi Seeds
Jack Flash: Sensi Seeds
Marlie's Collie: Sensi Seeds
Big Bud: Sensi Seeds

Da Purps: T.H. Seeds
Heavy Duty Fruity: T.H. Seeds
Chocolate Chunk: T.H. Seeds
MK-Ultra: T.H. Seeds

SoGouda: Soma's Sacred Seeds
Lavender: Soma's Sacred Seeds

Any suggestions on what to bust out first?

acccess, I believe the yield of 12-15 is given for plants only in 1 gall of soil. Ive never grown a soma strain that yielded less than 42 grams in 2-3 gallons of soil

I don't have much space to experiment with all the strains until I can put some outdoors.....but in the interim I cracked a few Chocolate Chunk, Papaya and Stargazer. Don't ask me why I chose those specific ones....it was an intuitive thing.

Depressingly however, the Papaya which was my FIRST choice is moving along sluggishly....I started germing those beans on March 6th....it's now the 13th. The beans are cracking, but like in slow motion. On the other hand, Stargazer seems to be splitting and moving along...as well as Chocolate Chunk.

I think I'll be doing the SoGouda's because they're one of Soma's newest strains. I smoked some of the Blue Cheese at Barney's while I was in the 'dam. If Soma's is anything like that (especially with his G13 inclusion!) then I've gotta get a move on those beans....it was spacey and tasty!

As far as soil is concerned: I don't use soil. I always grow straight from rockwool or into hydroton with ebb and flow setups. I'm sure someone is going to be horrified by that, but my suspicion is that alot of the "bugs" and such that were troublesome came from the pro-mix and soils I was using. From now on, I only use soil outdoors...I don't need any friggin spidermites and the like sucking down the life of my plants.

I used "AVID" to totally eradicate those aholes. Now I'm not taking any more chances. On the upside, my yields have gone through the roof with my small 6 inch pots filled with hydroton. The taste doesn't really seem to be affected adversely and everything is running more smoothly.
