that little shit hole was right across from my hotel (the doria), I knew not to go there for two reasons 1) not on any coffee shop map 2) it has "the best" in its sign which usually means it sucks.

Coffeeshop Paradise is a well known rip off place. Avoid at all cost! You would be better off smoking some swag or dirt weed than smoking anything that comes from Paradise. Sorry you had to experience it first hand, logic. Live n learn I guess. Peace.

Is that the place with those Indian looking blokes? We went in a few years ago and he was in some sort of rush and threw menus at us soon as we sat down made us order a drink quick. had a nice menu but the 3 differerent weeds we ordered were all the same! some wierd mediciney horibble tasting shite, at least it wasn't grit weed though.
only went in there because we thought it was related to paradise seeds. |

Thanks for sharing! Knowing where not to go may be just as important as knowing the good places.

Harry Gypsna, don't worry about the bad image of the Brits; their drinking habits and smoking of poor quality.
I have surprised a few Dutch by turning my nose up at their wares, and I'm not talking about the garbage in A'dam, the last time was in Eindhoven when I was offered some subpar wares: the coffeeshop girl said "it's good quality", and I said "no thanks, I don't want that", and she said "well that's what we smoke in the Netherlands", and I said "well I don't, I smoke better quality than that", lol, much to her surprise with me being English and to the surprise of a number of others locals crowding around the dealers booth! I wonder if they intentionally peddle crappy weed to the Brits?
Couldn't be that hard to find smokeable weed to sell, in Amsterdam.

It seems to me that you would like to know where the dutch are doing their shoppings?
Then you should give these places a try. I hope you feel welcome over there, and that you like their products. "de Kabouter" has got the best hash in town. Coffeeshop Bullwackie Woestduinstraat 76 Amsterdam, 1058TJ Coffeeshop de Kabouter Ruysdaelkade 145 Amsterdam, 1072AR Lunchroom Paradox coffeeshop, restaurant Eerste Bloemdwarsstraat 2 Amsterdam, 1016KS Coffeeshop Jabba Achillesstraat 104 Amsterdam, 1076RH Katsu café, coffeeshop Eerste van der Helststr 70 Amsterdam, 1072NZ |

listen to asanoha who posted right before me and go to those coffee shops that are full of locals, this is the rule even though katsu is the only one i frequented on his list. there was a place with good sound called prix dam right around the corner from our hotel that i liked. only place i knew of where you could buy grams of weed and they sold beer. all other coffee shops sell a bigger, more expensive package.
paradise does not rip off only the brits. it is a known tourist trap and anyone who walks through the door gets bent over. haven't been to the dam since fall/2004 but the dump looks exactly the same as the first year i saw it (1996) and it was empty all of the time then. always appeared they had something going on other than the regular coffee shop stuff. and kids, amsterdam is pretty safe for a big city, but stay in well lit areas as you roll around at night. and please don't think me a degenerate just cause i am so well informed on my favorite holiday spot. peace- biteme |
