The "Polluted Koolaid" Project
I got the idea for Polluted Koolaid after I had aqcuired Big bud seeds from Homegrown Fantaseeds. I grew the big bud seeds and was impressed by how they smelled and tasted like koolaid. The yeild was terrific, but as any heavy smoker would tell you... big bud is not very potent. I decided I wanted to improve the quality of the Big bud smoke by crossing it with something more potent. I was growing a male big bud from seed at the same time that I grew from seed a feminized blueberry cough plant. the big bud pollinted the feminzed blueberry cough plant and gave me the seeds that I have since grown and come to call the Polluted koolaid. I grew three seeds and was amazed at the quality of the bud from all three (all three turned out female).
The genetics are still unstable. Blueberry cough was an accident. I grew a blueberrry crop along with several skunk/haze seeds. one of the skunk haze females hermaphed and pollinated a few blueberry nugz. the bud that blueberry cough produced was the fruitiest skunkiest mind blow that i have ever been blessed to grow. The name blueberrry cough came when a friend of mine smoked some of it and coughed very hard...he said his whole mouth and throat tasted like blueberries...thus the name blueberry cough. Blueberry cough did give off some hermi flowers as would be expected, but when I grew the plant that the male big bud pollinated, I was careful to pull off every hermi flower (the few that showed) before they opened. Plus I had a terrible light leaking problem during that flowering period...the problem has since been resolved. the yeild on the blueberry cough wasn't anything amazing...a very modest yeild, and lengthy flower time. Big bud was an improvement on both ends of that spectrum, as Polluted koolaid yeilds very exceptionally. I currently have all three strains growing: here are pics to show the genetic evolution: Blueberry cough (feminized) - was the mother strain Big Bud (F2 Generation) - was the father strain Polluted Koolaid - the offspring |

The lighting in this environment is a 400W MH with a 150W hps on 18/6. soil from some canadian company...premier horticulture company. tap water, nutes I will have to go purchase. I don't think any of them are hungry yet, that soil comes fully loaded. more pics when I get a better cam. This grow is kool becuz I have both parents and the offspring in potentially female form so I can smoke all three individual buds and do a report of all three of them...God willing. the blueberry cough is a for sure female (feminized bean). The big bud looks terribly female ( I've seen a few Big Bud plants grow and this looks like lady form) and the polluted koolaid is showing the unique recombination of two subtle afghani undertones from big bud (the Skunk half of the HawaiianXSkunk cross for Big Bud) and the blueberry cough (Skunk/hazeXBlueberry both of which contain afghani) with it's dark broad leaves and pungent aroma; really afghani lookin leaves though. leaning toward the blueberry color though. This isn't my first run with Polluted Koolaid, and so far I have identified 3 phenotypes: Bigbud sativa dom. pheno with larger longer nugs and thinner longer leaves; bigbud indica dom pheno with smaller denser nugs and fatter shorter leaves; and a blueberry pheno although I'm not sure if it leans heavier on the indica or sativa, IMO I want to say it's more indica. flowered like a genuine blueberry cough with lager calyxes.

Pirate, you know what's up? that damn PK I planted is a boy, or so it really seems.
so is the big bud, it looks like...I think what I will do is kill the PK male and save the Big bud male to cross the blueberry cough, because A) the Blueberry cough seed that is grown here is from a different mother than the one that grew and made these original PK seeds {i.e. this is a different pheno of BBcough than the pheno in PK} and B) the big bud is a 2nd generation from the stock I purchased, pure bred but with phenotypic alterations, and C) the new PK cross I'd make I could cross with the other PK cross to improve the genetics considerably. so that's what I'll do. this thread is now literally becoming THE POLLUTED KOOLAID PROJECT. watch this cross be made.

oh yeah..pictures.
polluted koolaid...male most likely...I will let the balls grow out a bit to get a confirming photo before I kill it. Big bud...male..it looks like. either way I'm not killing it... too beautiful, and I may just cross the Northern lights clones I have growing right now with it...definitely making some beans with the Blueberrycough, cuz that's how the koolaid gets polluted. and last but certainly not the least... the fem. blueberry cough ( of which I have already taken 2 clones - the two lowest nodes) until the next update...I will get a good nut shot before I yank the PK. hell I might actually let this flower in my kitchen by the window and get some pollen. My dream strain is to cross the PK by purple rhino, then cross the PKxPR by (ShivaQueen x G13/bubblegum) I'm sitting on 3 BubbleG seeds and I'm thinking the queen needs a playmate. to all, peace, love, and the kindest dank - I inhale |

Yeah make another batch of PK like you said, then take those and make F2's to help stabilize.

yeah that's gonna be the approach...big bud is confirmed male. I will cross the existing Blueberry cough female (unstable) with this beautiful big bud male, then cross those seeds with the existing PK beans...already killed the poor PK male. that was sad. I just don't have the desire to cross an unstable strain with anything until I stabilze it. Once everything is homogeneous, I'm starting a seed company and entering my best crop in some future cannabis cup! i'm serious. try and stop me. I got freekin bubblegum G13 to play around with...and I just sprouted 2 OG kush beans. I'm just gonna have to come up with the funkiest indoor funk and then nothing else will compare.

OG sounds great inhale, good luck with the seed biz we need more original crosses these instead of fake rip offs from some seed comps. I have a friend whos learning to breed like you and she wants to open a seed biz one day to.

yeah pirate, you might become a part of history dude. this polluted koolaid idea is totally legit in the breeding sense...I don't think anyone has ever seen the likes of blueberry cough, themother of this cross. Was blueberry ever crossed with skunk or haze? I'll never forget that skunk haze nug i got them beans from...it was a journey. The fact that a female hermed to make the beans on the blueberry mothers just astounds me...as if God Himself decided "I'm gonna bless this guy with seeds the likes of which the world has never known." Every time you hit the BBcough, you cough. not because it's a harsh smoke, but because it expands in you lungs, and it tastes SO FUCKING GOOD that you can't help wanting to take a massive lung expanding hit. And then the euphoria hits...giggly mellow time. Not much can make me giggly anymore...damn tolerance. BBcough hits me like it's my first time smoking again. I just hated that yield. 1.5 OZ from a 2 gallon pot will not suffice for me.
then there's big bud. wow what a yeild...nothing to write home about smoke wise but that yield! wow. it was definitely the right choice to increase the growth of that BBC. A nyce, dirty fruit smell from hawaii and the skunk, with considerably fast flowering rate. I was pleased. Homegrown fantaseeds are good people. they make good beans. God Bless them. SO the pollution hits the koolaid stand. this strain makes me think of what it would smell like if a skunk were dipped into a pitcher of some fruity smelling koolaid. really fruity and sweet, but that skunk, it's like "yugh" but at the same time "mmmmh". An interesting combo witch which I am well pleased. I'll take more pics in a few days...gotta build the suspense. |
